But, there was a pic of Jay's car with a stars and stripes paint job. Could be a possibility. It looks like the corner of a Protech body.

That would be a very cool option! I wonder why Jay used the Hornet sized front wheels. Maybe because there weren't many tire options back then in the larger 1.9" front wheel size?

I think it was just a tire he could get to work on the surface. The pins probably worked better than the ribs at the time.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

I finally watched the full Jay Halsey video on the previous page. I saw a pic of my replica at the 9:30 time stamp. :)

Cool interview.

I know the industry has moved on, and tracks as in the video are harder to maintain, but THAT is what I call off road. The tracks today are on road tracks with INSANE jumps. I know the speeds today would never be possible on tracks like that, but that’s my opinion.

Sorry for the OT.

Yeah. That pic is from right before I sent it to him to sign the body so it still had the black wheels. I found the chrome outer halves after it came back.

Are the front wheels on these a smaller diameter then the fronts on the 40th?

I thought so, but didn't know the size, thanks.

Does one go this route to build a stealth? Or maybe it's easier to get the FanRC one? 🧐

Id hold off on the FanRc until he sorts the gritty diff plates and fixes the gear mesh issue. As much as I hate to say it, the AE trans is probably the way to go for now at least.

FanRC gear diff requires you to drill a few new holes in the chassis.
Going to go that far might as well go with the Factory Works/JC Racing transmission that uses B6 internals and doesn't require you to drill anything.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

The new gear diff FanRC trans requires drilling the motor plate but I don't think you drill the chassis at all. From what I've seen it's just a simple drill jig for the motor plate

But yeah that's the main thing we concentrated on with our case- no drilling for ANY rc10, and any brace fits as well

You're right, I heard about the jig and immediately assumed chassis and not motor plate. In a way that's worse as you have to also tap those holes too.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.
