In 1987 Kyosho released the Cosmo, an entry level 1/10 2wd electric off-road buggy whose chassis was preceded by the Icarus and originated with the Pegasus. Constructed primarily of ABS plastic the Cosmo took the Pegasus’ chassis with its large molded plastic tub complete with bottom hatch for battery access and added a number of design improvements. Retaining the 4-wheel independent suspension system with flexible plastic hinge section molded into the rear swing arms, the Cosmo replaced the flexible hinge front suspension with a free pivoting lower a-arm and plastic camber link setup attached to a new front bulkhead assembly. Not content to reuse the old plastic friction shocks on the new suspension Kyosho included a full set of gold anodized, oil-filled, aluminum bodied shocks with adjustable collars. Behind the new bolt-on front bulkhead however resided the simple but effective z-bent linkage and threaded rod end steering system with Kimbrough style servo save. Out back the same split case transmission with a bevel gear differential was retained and up-fitted with an o-ring style clutch assembly. Leading out of the transmission was a pair of dog eared plastic driveshafts with metal axles, the latter at all four corners retained a fresh set of white five spoke wheels wearing knobby tires in the rear and ribbed tires up front. A new large plastic front bumper and tubular style rear motor cage along with an updated clear lexan body without wing or driver was included with the unassembled kit as was a full set of bushings, mechanical speed controller and Mabuchi RS540 motor, less radio:

Re: Kyosho Cosmo
For a second, I thought the gold alloy shocks you described were THE Kyosho Gold shocks.

Re: Kyosho Cosmo
Haha, could you imagine, if that were the case there'd be a lot of shockless Cosmo's for sale.
