Kyosho Big Boss

In 1988 Kyosho released the Big Boss, their second of five (Big Brute, Big Boss, Double Dare, Hi-Rider, USA-1) 1/10 2wd electric monster trucks to use this platform. Just as the Big Brute which preceded it the Big Boss (also knowns as "The Boss") was constructed primarily out of plastic and rode on a deeply molded tub chassis complete with top cover to keep the electronics safe from debris. A pair of split case gearbox housings bolted to the chassis and exactly as before were supported by a quartet of braces that tied the structures together. Attached to the cases was the same 4-wheel, double a-arm, independent suspension system sporting a mirrored design that allowed the truck to use the same components at all four corners with the suspension incorporating six adjustable tie rods, with four stabilizing the rear knuckles and two up front leading to the Kimbrough style servo saver. Gone though were the bright red plastic shock towers, replaced with beefier black towers each holding a new internally sprung chome plated plastic friction shock for each wheel. The transverse battery mount lost its red side guards to black versions, and the oversized white brush guard was replaced by a black guard with beefier mounts. The tubular style plastic motor cage out back was now black as well but power was fed to the same three-gear bevel differential equipped transmission, dog eared plastic driveshafts, and metal axle shafts, but they lead to a fresh set of three-piece chrome and black "turbine" style 2.2 truck wheels rolling on knobbier than before 5.4 inch tall Bridgestone monster truck tires. The biggest change to the 'Boss was its highly detailed clear lexan Ford F-250 truck body with chrome bumpers, grille, side view mirrors, chrome triple tube roll bar with off-road lights and hood mounted chrome supercharger with fuel injector hat and zoomie headers. Sold as an unassembled kit the Big Boss came with upgraded bronze bushings, Kyosho's new heavy duty mechanical speed controller, and a Lemans 05 Stock motor, less radio:
