In 1989 Kyosho unveiled the Rampage, a new 1/10 2wd off-road gas buggy, into their lineup. Closer in design to contemporary electric race buggy offerings than Kyosho's previous 1/10 gas buggies the Rampage's foundation was an aluminum plate chassis onto which molded nylon front and rear bulkheads located the four-wheel independent suspension with lower a-arms and fixed camber links. Aluminum capped nylon bodied oil filled coilover shocks hung from aluminum shock towers front and rear provided damping while steering of the inline axle blocks was actuated through adjustable tie rods leading to twin bellcranks with a built-in servo saver sandwiched under an aluminum front plate that tied the steering to the front bulkhead for strength. Contrasting previous Kyosho gas buggies the top-of-the-line O.S. .12 CZ-R engine with recoil starter sat midship in the chassis and delivered power through a pinion and spur primary drive turning a bearing mounted prop shaft that utilized a belt final drive to connect to the bevel geared differential. Metal dogbones sent the power out past plastic rear carriers to 340/30/20 M and 195/60/20 S-S Knobby Bridgestone tires mounted on yellow dished aero disk style wheels spinning on a complete set of metal bushings. A clear lexan body, mini front bumper, four AA receiver pack and four D-cell glow plug ignitor pack were included (minus batteries) with the unassembled kit, which was sold less radio:
