I have been feverishly trying to prepare some classic cars for next weekends large vintage race meeting here in Australia.
Last year I ran three brand new un-run cars - the Marui Samurai, the AYK Viper and the Kyosho Lazer ZX-R.
This year I am going to be running some nicely restored cars. The first one that I have gotten ready (well - almost - just need to tidy up the wiring and a few other odds and ends), is the SWB Kyosho Optima Mid.
This car was a bit of a clunker - as you may note from the "before" photo's. I completely stripped her down, rebuilt using ball diffs. Also added Gold shocks and a repro body from Marwan. I decided to get a bit funky and add a brand new Trintiy "Butterfly" chassis and A&L steering set up. Also did a few mods to the drive train that I used to do back in the old days. This car runs super free now.
I did a really quick paint job on her - mainly because the original body was toast - and Marwans repro bodies are well priced, I can pick up another one and do a much better job for the shelf later on.
I will let the pics do the rest of the talking - I hope you like her - Handles pretty well on the "test track". (road out the front of the house with slicks on!!)

Let me know if you like her!
I have a couple of surprise runners that I am finishing off for this meeting - I reckon I might raise a few eyebrows with one. (Hint - its a 4wd conversion car!!)

Cheers
Darryn
