In 1986 Tamiya brought a new 1/10 2wd electric off-road buggy to market that they called, the Falcon. Featuring ABS plastic construction throughout, the newly designed Falcon sported a deeply molded open deck tub with transverse battery mount and easy component access. Smoothing out rough terrain was the job of the double a-arm front suspension bolted to a multi-piece bulkhead, and trailing arms fastened to rear of the tub, all dampened by Tamiya’s yellow plastic body oil-filled coilover CVA shocks with clip in spring spacers supported by plastic shock towers. Steering was kept simple with adjustable z-bend tie rods and ball cups attached directly to the Kimbrough style servo saver, though the steering arms would feature a pair mounting points to adjust ackerman. The gearcase containing Tamiya’s pinion, counter, and bevel gear differential bolted to the rear of the tub with a top brace for added rigidity and used plastic dogbones to spin its bright yellow single piece plastic spoke wheels wearing Off-Roader Spiked rear and Ribbed front tires. Fit with a new enclosed style clear lexan buggy body and wing the unassembled kit also received a large front bumper, tubular style rear motor guard, mechanical speed controller, Mabuchi RS540S motor, and Freddie Wilson driver figure. The Falcons tub chassis would enjoy continued use under a variety of future models including the Bear Hawk, Stadium Blitzer, Blitzer Beetle, and Stadium Thunder:
