It's that time of the year where my printers are used for something else than RC car parts...

It's prints that I do for my wife and the poney club hosting my wife's poneys
Image

Each plate is 100 tick remover, and I printed already a few of them... IsanMate ASA prints perefctly once calibrated with generic profile for ASA.

And my wife is then preparing some key rings from those : they will be used as gift to the participants of some of the events at the poney club.

I do few prints over the year like those, and they are also part of the elements that ease the things when I tell my wife I'd like a new printer...
I ordered a H2D printer this week, in Laser 10W combo version. Expected arrival : mid May. It may even arrive before the Carvera Air (ship has moved and is expected to arrive to terminus around May 8th). The H2D hits all the marks of what I was expecting from a bigger X1C, including the two nozzle which will be very helpfull in quite a few of my use cases. The Laser is mainly for light use, and targeted mainly for my wife requirements.
At this stage, I don't know yet if the X1C Carbon stays or not. This is my main question.
That being said, I will need to reorganize my home lab space to cater for the new machines. Operation "Pushing walls" is about to start...
I buy kits to build and ru(i)n them :-)

Another non rc related use of my printers. TPU is an amazing material

I'm impressed how long the printed TPU blades worked :they last longer than the original blades in the same conditions, which means less time lost while working outside, and more time to spent on RC cars :-)

The H2D arrived on tuesday... It is currently installed in the living room, as the final destination is not ready yet.

I did not print much yet with it...

Someheow it was just enough to see the dual nozzle in action : there is almost no waste, and there is not cross material pollution.

Today, it was an Open makers evenning at the fablab...
I started the cut of my first piece of Aluminium, today

Next step will be to do a chamfer

After the first face of the support yesterday, I came back to the fablab this morning to work out the second face, and the chamfer...
Image

It was done with pockets first (and to optimise machine tool time, I could have done contours rather than pockets, something I noticed while looking at the machine working). This was done with single fulte flat end mill bit...
Image
Then with a chamfering bit, the chamfer, step by step, proceeding with each step of the stairs starting by the lower one...
Image

Here is the result
Image

At the end, made the thread manually, as there was no thread milling bit for M6 threads.
Image

This part will allow the usage of the chuck vertically to do threads milling on small shafts, and to use a FoxAlien Vice with a positionning allowing for easy correspondance with the Anchor 1 position.
My first aluminium part is done, and it is not going to be the last one :-)
