1991 RC10 TEAM CAR No. 6036

Post by DAS100 »

Last time, I drove this car was in 1992. I took the wheels off and parked it. I intended to drive it later, but never got around to it. It's been either in a storage unit or in a garage since then. I found it today, and here is what it looks like untouched since then. When I bought it in 1991, I did dye the white plastic parts black. Their may be a few accessory items in this picture which were for an earlier RC10 model, that I also have and will post shortly.

I have a soft spot for the 6036 model. Brave to post with those decals...how many people asked for those?

None so far. I don't plan to depart with them, at least for now. This model, I think is 100% complete. Don't know if you saw a partial picture of it, but I also have the original unpainted body including the wing and the interior piece. I raced this model locally at SCR (Scottsdale RC Speedway) for about a month, once a week and then put the car away. I was a poor driver, but everyone said I had the fastest RC-10 out there, and I did place several times.

I think it may be fun restoring this model. I shouldn’t have to buy or replace any items. Just take the car apart and carefully clean everything, and re-assemble it.

Was that #6196 decal sheet rare in 2010? It's extremely common and used in several kits from the 6030 - 6037.

I find that "Bel-Ray Track Side Motor Bath" can interesting. Never seen one before.

Common back in the day but I'd call them uncommon even now since uncut sheets only pop up once every month or two... priced at ten to fifteen times what they were originally.

...I'm not one to complain about "Then vs. Now" pricing but... damn.

I just remember the $345 MSRP kits going for 180-$190 bitd. Across manufacturers. I guess it'd be like getting a re-re graphite for $250 or so. Crazy. I'm probably just getting older, grumpily.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

They are cool relics. Howard from Bel-Ray would show up at big events and clean motors. He had blue oiler pens that he’d pass out or sell. It was really thin.

I sent this pic to Bob Currie a few weeks ago, so that’s why the Losi motor is next to it.

Actually it'd be like getting a re-re graphite for $450 or so. $180 in 1990 adjusted for inflation equals $450 in 2025. My guess is grumpiness has about the same inflation rate. :P :P :P
