Hello from Lake Wylie NC

Post by tgfarrell »

I just resurrected my Team Associated RC-10 2T Championship buggy from a long slumber and found this forum. Purchased new in 1991 and using an MSC and Futaba controller and electronics. Old NiCD battery holds a charge for about 3 or 4 minutes. So off to get a 3800Mah NiHM Tenergy and charger from Amazon to make it sing again. Forums like this didn't exist back then, probably a good thing since I was busy working. Retired now and can play more with my toys.

Welcome! Nice buggy! Maybe time for a coat of paint?

Yeah I never painted it it. I just ran it around the yard in summer and winter. Had to tape up some holes in the tub so snow didn't get into the tub. I still have all the original decals and 2 cans of paint (one of which dried up when I tried to spry it hahah). I may paint it the official scheme on the box. Still have the box as well. I hear this thing is worth $$$ but not enough to tempt me to sell it.

I did some more research and I bought this buggy July of 1990, so its an A stamp without the stealth transmission. Its also a model #6016 Full kit, ball bearings, less battery.

Just put a Tenergy 3800mah battery in it and it rocks. Was running it around the yard some. Had to clean it out after.

I also found this discussion on the paints to use for the body.

My tires are flat on one side from storage and old so want to replace those as well. Theres an Amain distributor warehouse near me so I can order stuff from there and pick it up at their distributor in Charlotte.

Got a new battery and the buggy rips pretty good. Drove in the grass and thru some water to the neighbors for a good bit. All is fine.

I have an order in to Amain for some paint, tires and decals to dress it up. I'm just down the street from the Charlotte NC Amain dist center, so can pick it up when its ready with no shipping. Woohoo!

I'll post in whatever appropriate build section for vintage RC10 resurrection as I proceed further on this.

This would be a good spot to post the work on it:

For the tires with the flat spots, if they aren't too bad, using some tire foams in the wheels might help recover them to a round shape. Just a thought.

Thanks.

The tires are 35+ years old, I think new ones are in order but thanks for the suggestion. This forum is great.
