Carpet wheels and Tires for the RC10 40th anniv
Good morning,
I recently completed the 40th anniv, of course i will be taking it to the track but i would like the option to take it to an indoor track. i seem to have trouble finding rear mono wheels that fit with carpet tires. apparently the RE RE has 1/4 stepped axles. and the j concept wheels are 3/16 straight axles. Could anyone recommend some wheels that fit? Thanks!

I use hex adapters in the rear (factory works make them, but I 3d printed mine) and run Kyosho Turbo Scorpion wheels. This requires 3/16x5/16x1/8 bearings (I use TRB-100494) for the matching front wheels but works well and keeps the car at the right width.
Front wheel I trim of the bead on the inside facing portion of the wheel to fit the modern narrow tires.Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

the other option is to get either CVDs for the rear of the car (not the MIP ones since the new ones are still 1/4" unless you mix and match parts of get an older set), or buy rear stub axles from the RC10DS that are 3/16 and will fit the Mono wheels properly.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

You're looking for 2.2 wheels to fit the modern carpet tires. Those are small diameter like the stock jelly bean wheels.

The new Jconcepts Pioneer wheels have a separate hub like the old yokomo wheels, and they'll have hubs for 3/16 or 1/4 axles. Just haven't been released yet.

Could always use a 1/4 inch drill bit to create the pocket on the back of a 3/16 inch wheel for the axle to seat into like we did back in the day.
