In 1993 Tamiya let out on track their latest 1/10 2wd electric Formula One race car, the F103. Evolving from the F102 released the year prior Tamiya's newest F1 weapon featured a significant number of revisions over its older brother. The chassis, still constructed of black fiberglass reinforced fiberglass, was reshaped to accept a new front suspension that combined the four separate control arms previously used into upper and lower arm units that stretched out to the coil over kingpin front spindles. The direct mounted servo saver was then centrally located along the front track by a redesigned servo mount, though still used z-bend tie rods and ballcups. Also retained was the transversely situated battery, however it was now secured to the chassis with molded plastic mounts onto which the rear t-bar attached. The oil filled coilover shock of the F102 was then replaced by an undampened coilover spring assembly that relied on an oiled multi-disk rear suspension system affixed to the top plate of the chassis for dampening. A remolded four-piece plastic motor pod supported the 540 powerplant, pinion/spur direct drive, and ball diff rear axle. Plastic wheels with taped on foam tires then set the stage for the clear lexan racing body. Molded front and rear wings, a Mabuchi RS540 motor, and full bearings completed the unassembled kit, which was available as a Lotus 107B Ford, Sauber C10, Ferrari 412T1, Sauber C12 94 Japan Special, and PIAA Nakajima Reynard 97D:
