Reimagining Hotels for Children

Post by TokyoProf »

I was told about Grand Mercure outside of Tokyo, and it turned out to be a good destination for parents with kids. This was once a Conference hotel (not sure who would come out of town to come here) converted to be kid friendly place. Middle of the forest, hot spring baths, decent buffet, and then entire B1 floor playground options for kids of all ages. It was a good time, wish there were more of these places.

RC track indoors :) that would be epic...

Korea seems to have it figured out. It's a shame the birthrate here is tanking, but it's very kid friendly. Probably part of the incentive efforts to boost the birthrate!
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Not a converted hotel for kids but across the US there's these huge indoor water parks with attached hotels for families with kids and teens. I see there's also one in Canada too.

These seem to be a hot ticket in Virginia these days. We have a Great Wolf in Williamsburg, and next year we are getting a Kalahari in Fredericksburg. Same basic concept.

Through sources, I know there were talks of bringing the same concept to Richmond a few years back, but the plans just faded away.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

It's indoors and there's carpet on the floor, what more do you need? Heck, between the kids and the playground environment there's even an "offroad" course!
