Stupid Brushed Novak Question

Post by morrisey0 »

I either dreamt this, or am just totally off, or just can't get the Google machine to work for me right now.

When I was previously looking around at high voltage vintage ESCs (and ended up with a Zeta), I swear there were Novaks that went to 20v, or maybe 20 cells???? And I swear it was simply in the model number that told you, like a 410 was good for 4-10 cells, and this / these other models were like 420 for 4-20 cells. Can anyone get me back on the right path? I am looking into another dragster project, and found another Zeta that I like, but wouldn't mind comparing specs to a Novak .................... if it ever existed.

Or if you have any other vintage, brushed, min 14.4v volt input ESCs that you would suggest, I am all ears!
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

You found a Drag Zeta? There's been a Pro Micro in a Drag Zeta box on eBay for a while.

That's almost catchy enough to use as an answering machine message.

Oh yeah, Novak 828HV, what a power house esc it was bitd. I used them in boats. Drilled the heatsinks and JB welded brass tubing in them so I could run the water cooling through them. I remember frying a lot of motors in boats, but those esc's were some beefy bulletproof stuff.

The 420 was Tekin.

Novak later made an esc for Traxxas. I think it was for 3S and twin motors.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

I had a line on a Drag Zeta, but am now being told it is gone. :?

For right now, I think I will pull my Zeta from my TF dragster, and replace it with a Tekin 411 / 420 / G/P-12 or something along those lines as the car is 11 cell. That car is static, so it just needs to function, but not be awesome. The future car I would like to actually drive, and it will be 12 cell (I think), so having the programmability of the Zeta will be nice.
