RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
I know this has been discussed, but for a bit of extra verification, will the Jcocepts 2.2" wheels for the RC10 play nice with the latest Team Car release? From my understanding, the rears should work fine as the Team Car as the 3/16 axles, but I'm a bit confused about the front. JC says the wheels are designed for non-flanged bearings, whereas most of my re-release kits have flanged bearings up front. Beyond that, there's a note about using AE part # 6220 if I want the original track width. From looking at the manual, the Team Car comes with the 6218 front axles, so I'm curious if they'd still mount up fine, or if the 6220 axles are a requirement? If so, it seems I'd also need to swap out the steering blocks as well.
Re: body fitment, will most of the various bodies (Mirage, Viper, Original, etc.) fit on the various re-release kits? For instance, I'm wondering if a Viper body intended for the Team Car (and trimmed for that car) would fit fine on something like the new RC10 4wd? The body posts seem to be in the same position on most of the kits, so it seems like body styles would be interchangeable. I have a nice painted Team Car/Viper body that I'm considering running on the 4wd and/or BK car (while I wait for my BK body to get finished).
Thanks!

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
Different RC10 front wheels use different bearings. But the axle diameter and wheel shank length are common across all four axle types. I'm pretty sure that the wheel mounting dimensions are shared through the B4.
You should verify the rear axle diameter. I'm pretty sure that the Team Car uses 1/4" axles, while the Kinwald shows 3/16" axles.

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
You're correct, I just checked the manual on the Team Car again and it is the 1/4" axle, though it looks like the BK axles work as replacements for the Team Car. Finding a set of yellow wheels that fit these is more involved that I initially thought.
Do you have any idea what the difference is between part 6218 and 6220 for the front axles? It seems JC recommends the 6220 for getting original track width, but they don't mention whether or not the 6218 axles will still work. It also sounds like finding some non-flanged 3/16 front bearings are a requirement if going with the 2.2" JC wheels as well.
Thanks.

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
JC Racing in the UK. They have dish and five spoke wheels in multiple colors, all 2.2".
The dish fronts are available in wide (modern tire) and narrow (slim and vintage tires), white the five spoke are only available in narrow.
JC Racing actually has a couple narrow fronts, if that's what you want. Schumacher and Pro-line also have a few.
They fit. I have cars with both axles and JConcepts wheels.Ty89m wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 5:00 pm Do you have any idea what the difference is between part 6218 and 6220 for the front axles? The 6218 is the original steel inline axle. The 6220 is the later aluminum inline axle.
They use different carriers, so the correct axles and carriers must be used together. But they are the same width.
There is nothing wrong with the 6218 (I actually prefer it), the 6220 is just much more common. Incidentally, JConcepts sells their own version of the 6220.
The 7222 are the wide axles, from the GT and re-re Words. They use the same carriers as the 6220.

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
Excellent info, thanks a ton. It sounds like the JC is worth ordering from the UK as I'd like to have yellow and the pink. In reference to the front wheel widths, what tires would work with the narrows vs. wide? I'd like to find a comparable tire to stock Team Car tires that fit the JC 2.2" wheels. I'm fairly sure the BK car tires would likely work, and I'm guessing the narrow JC front wheels would be ideal for those.

JC Racing has a narrow front rib that would probably be a good match.Ty89m wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 6:02 pm Excellent info, thanks a ton. I've used vintage Losi 2.15" tires on narrow JC wheels. I think that the Kinwald tires are 2.125".
I tried some 2.1 Traxxas Bandit tires. They kinda rolled in the middle, but I think that is due to them being a harder tire.
The wide fit most modern 2.2 front tires. You can even get 4wd tires on them. The JConcepts fronts are also wide.

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
Just for a visual, here are both types of inline axle.
You can see that the threads on the aluminum axle are kinda short. It was common for people to break them.

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
Flanged and non-flanged on JC Racing wheel. There's negligible difference in play. Flanged look better? being "flush"
It mentions the tight fit in the BK manual, that's on a smaller diameter wheel.
The narrow JC wheels are designed for carpet and astro tires. I think the wide wheels would be better for ribs?

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
Thanks for posting the comparison between the two. I wonder why Jconcepts says the 6220 axle should be used for "original track width" when they're essentially the same in that regard.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 9:49 pm Just for a visual, here are both types of inline axle.

Is it safe to assume most of the RC10 front tires would be considered "narrow"?
Dirtburner - you might be right. The JC narrows look like they're intended for modern narrow carpet tires. The JC narrows are 21mm in width, and the wide 26mm. I wonder if something like the JConcepts "Rips" would work well? I'll have to measure the BK cars front/rears, but it'd be nice if I could just grab a set of those tires if/when they come available.

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
The 6218 was short lived. The 6220 accounts for the vast majority of inline axles.
Then Associated threw a kink in by using the 7222 wide axles on the rere Worlds car. They did it in order to use common B4 front wheels but it still adds the confusion.

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
These are JConcepts Rips on a modern 2.2 (wide) wheel. Those particular front wheels are from Avid but that car uses hex wheels.

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
I just know by looking at the manual on my incoming Team Car that it's running the 6218 axles, but knowing that they'll work just fine with the JC and/or JConcepts 2.2" wheels, I won't bother swapping them out for the newer 6220 version.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 5:12 amThe 6218 was short lived. Thank for clarifying. I'll order a set!Dirtburner wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 2:15 amThey're "Rips" on JC wide wheels in the images I posted.

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
Team CRP has metric conversion axles in 2 different widths, to use wheels with metric bearings. It keeps the whole built a bit more vintage, except for the wheels.
I just checked eBay, looks like those axles are sold out.
Sorry

Re: RC10 Wheels/Body fitment
Their Ebay store shows multiple in stock, of each kind.
I have a set of the wide axles and two sets of the truck axles.
