Re: Outlaw Rampage Pro Team - electric conversion rescue
Any recommendations for spur gears? The factory 105t is for the 30k rpm .12 OS and is geared too low for my brushed electric setup. I think I need something in the 75-86t range but I am not sure what will fit.

Making some progress. Got a new motor and I was able to figure out the transmission except for one item. The spur gear wobbles however the driveshaft does not appear bent. I think it is related to how the inside slipper plate rests on the pin but I am not sure. The wobble is enough that the mesh is perfect for about 2/3 of the rotation and then tight on the remaining third. Obviously not ideal, but not sure how critical this is.

If you can find a 32 pitch spur gear that will fit, I'd switch to it. The larger gears are much more forgiving on mesh.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

New driveshaft fixed it. I will keep that in mind though. I do have a Mod 1 gear and it is way too big. 32p might work.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Wed Jun 04, 2025 4:53 pm If you can find a 32 pitch spur gear that will fit, I'd switch to it. The larger gears are much more forgiving on mesh.

Re: Outlaw Rampage Pro Team - electric conversion rescue
Some updates:
New rear body post
New motor (Holmes Retro Sport 21t)
New gearbox case
New esc and motor decals
New 3D printed battery tray and antenna mount
I have figured out these gearboxes. I will do a separate detailed write up soon.
The decals were printed by a friend on a Cricut.
The battery tray is designed for lipo packs. I have the stl file if anyone wants it.
The previous owner had eliminated the factory torque arm so it had slipped my mind. It is definitely necessary as the tail is very floppy without it. That is the next and hopefully last project other than the body.

Nice conversion, may I add a few suggestions?
1. It helps gear mesh you will want to connect the moto plate to the gearbox, the chassis will flex, and flex between motor and spur gear is NOT what you want
2. this is more my personal taste, I just don't really like full size batteries mounted sideways. The way this car is setup there seems to beenough space to mount the battery lengthwise
also the battery would also be mounted lower for a better CG.
Possible attachement motor plate to gearbox: Battery placement, perhaps with a custom or modded front top plate:

I will be using the factory torque arm. That should give it the same bracing as the original nitro setup and still make it easy to adjust the motor mount for different pinions/spurs. I will also tie it into the front top plate at some point.
The battery is over an inch too long to mount lengthwise. The battery tray is designed to mount on posts as it is currently, for full size batteries. Or directly to the chassis, when using shorty lipo packs for lowest CG.
