From POS to Glamorous !

The chassis is pretty cheap, the material is thin and stamped out leaving raised edges.

Somewhere along the lines Tra**as changed the engine mount slightly where one leg on the main mount is slighly shorter and one engine adaptor is also shorter. I had to file the engine adaptors to fit the massive OS pullstart just like I did on the Nitro Sport.

I also had to modify the chassis slightly to make it fit.

A couple more bits that I couldn't find in Austria, nearly able to start putting stuff together.

Luckily I found a nitro Pro Ball Diff which I'm pretty wrapped about.

The Rebuild


I wondered what the countersunk screw hole to nowhere was for, turns out it is for adjusting the optional ball diff....

So I drilled the case.

Pretty cool but different way to adjust the diff, you stick a 1.5mm driver in the hole and it locks one side of the diff so you can loosen or tighten the diff.

Fuel tank box and front end nearly finished. I'm still waiting on turnbuckles to arrive.

I stripped the anodizing off the original tie brace as the light blue clashed with the rest of the truck.

I originally wanted to flip the steering and mount it to the chassis like the SRT but I don't mind the pod type set up. The steering set up works well and solid with titanium turnbuckles.

Steering servo is a Power HD 1217MG, 219.42 oz-in of torque and .11@ 6.0v which is fairly healthy.

Upper deck attached. Throttle servo is a Power HD 8312 TG. 187.48 oz-in torque and .10 @ 6v. It should be pretty snappy and have plenty of brakes.

Moving onto the transmission......

The ball diff is a cross between the 2520 and 4620 diffs.

Finished transmission bolted in along with rear bulkhead, shock tower and battery box.

Engine and linkage attached. The brake set up is very much like a GT. I'll probably end up replacing the clutch bell as it is pretty worn.

Shocks and pipe, i still need to make a pipe wire hanger.

Have you seen the updated 1952 rear carriers? I stumbled across them in the LHS a while back. The side reinforcements are nice, as I'd noticed a little deformation on my old ones.

What size hole did you drill in the transmission case?
And what rear shock tower is that?

Have you seen the updated 1952 rear carriers? I stumbled across them in the LHS a while back. The side reinforcements are nice, as I'd noticed a little deformation on my old ones.

I have seen those and even have a couple pairs, when I was trying to find the old ones for my SRT all I could find were the reinforced carriers. The truck won't get beat on like in the past so I don't envisage breaking anything unless I have a runaway

Thanks, the instructions say to drill a 2mm (5/64) hole. All I could find quickly without too much effort was 1.7mm, so I just used that.

The servos will be a good fit for the truck, I had them laying around and this was a fitting build to use them. I just need to get a locking plug style extension lead for the battery so I can finish off the "electronics"

Pretty much all that's left to finish the truck are turnbuckles and a body

The shock towers are Factory Works towers.
