Step 11, rear axle mounting.

Shocks and hubs are next.

Step 16 and 17 complete the chassis.








The 3-speed transmission is up next, have been looking forward to this, will get in to it tomorrow. This will be the hardest part of this build. Step 18 is where the gear box assembly starts in the manual:

Was surprised by this warning in the back of the manual, regarding the diff lock pin that I had installed for the rear axle.



Removed the diff lock pin after reading that, the pin is accessible from the top of the chassis.

What takes a lot of time is all of the thread lock this model uses, not complaining, but it's a serious event with every step.

So you're planning to run this one? That's awesome!!
One of my clones is a runner and I really enjoy driving it. I let my neighbors drive it and it has a ton of miles. Not the best crawler but I honestly don't care. As a trail truck, it's one of my favorites.

I'll probably not run this one, I love the NBR, or never been run status, strange I know - and I could change my mind about that someday - just don't want to build it in a way that makes it chew up its gears quicker.

Left a bearing out of Step 22, had to go back and fix it, forgot to take the final pics of Step 23.


The gear box was very difficult, I had to take it entirely apart three times, once to figure out where the extra bearing came from that was on the bench after assembly. Then a case spacer popped out when fixing the bearing issue, found that on the bench once it was assembled for the second time, and had to tear it down again. Was a really fun build and great learning lesson.

Like a great book, this kit is hard to put down, couldn't stop building it.

The radio box is next. A HW1060 is on the way - need to get the servo's still.

Really want the full light kit in this, like the 2012 Bruiser video, where it has turn signals, and reverse lights too. Need to run 4ch, to be able to turn the lights on with the Tx; have a Spektrum DX5C, will probably use that and a 5ch Rx.


Already have a Tamiya TLU-01 LED controller, but the part that's hard to get, and expensive when you find it, is the brain that gets the signals from the Rx and turns on the correct LED, that's the TLU-02, need both the TLU-01 and TLU-02 for full functionality.
