Not one to rest on its laurels, in 1999 Tamiya introduced a new dual motor 1/10 4wd electric Monster Truck called the Wild Dagger. Utilizing an entirely new WR-01 Symmetrical Chassis Concept both halves of the 'Daggers molded ABS monocoque chassis and transmissions were mirror images of themselves. Hanging off the 'Daggers clamshell chassis was a four-wheel independent suspension system with two-piece lower a-arms and plastic camber links at all four corners. Landings from high flying jumps were controlled by a set of plastic bodied coilover friction shocks and obstacles too big to fly over were avoided with the trucks long spherically ended tie rods attached to the centrally located direct mounted servo saver steering system. A transversely mounted battery sat low in the center of the chassis and provided power to two 540 electric motors each with their own adjustable pinion and bevel gear differential equipped transmissions. Metal dog bones and 12mm hex drives spun the same single piece dark grey plastic wheels clinching pin spike monster truck tires lifted from the Nitro Powered Mad Bison. Even the aerodynamic clear lexan truck body was pulled from the Mad Bison's parts bin. A pair of Mabuchi RS-540 motors, 3-step mechanical speed controller, two plastic bummers, side guards, and a full set of bushings would also be included with the unassembled kit, which would later be revived as the Twin Detonator (2003), Double Blaze (2006), and Dualhunter (2007) monster trucks:
