Any pictures of elfin can-am bodies?
I picked up this pair off ebay, Associated #2118 Elfin.
The one not pictured is the same, except it has holes drilled for the body mounts and motor (which match perfectly with those on my rc300)
I'm trying to find some pictures for reference, but not having much luck. Does anyone have any pictures of either scale or 1:1 versions painted up?
Also if you have an idea which of the Elfin cars this is in 1:1 that would probably help with the search.
Thanks!

Re: Any pictures of elfin can-am bodies?
A bit of help, but our Aussie friends may have more info.

"From the famous marques to one of the least known: this is the Australian Elfin ME5, nowadays owned and raced by Dutchman (with a German passport) Harm Lagaay. The car may be virtually unknown, Harm Lagaay isn't. He is head of Porsche design and drew the lines of the Porsche Boxster for example.
Elfin was a leading Australian constructor of racing and sports-racing cars that introduced its first car in 1958. The company built about 300 cars in its 25 years of existence. Most notable were their Formula Junior and Formula 3 cars, mainly entered in Australian series. This particular car was a rare excursion into sportscar racing based on a F5000 design of the early seventies.
Harm Lagaay took this car to a creditable 8th place in the race."

Re: Any pictures of elfin can-am bodies?
I attended many Can Am races bitd and this body being a single seat design would probably be from the 2nd edition of Can Am which was based on the old F5000 cars but redressed with full fendered bodies. If you want to look into the series a little further there is a website http://www.oldracingcars.com that has some info on the cars, races and drivers(unfortunately Elfin is not one of the cars mentioned).
I did find a site which you may already have seen which shows a body similar to yours for 1/8 scale cars and they also make other bodies which are pretty cool. I especially like the Chaparral but that one was a body from the 1st Can Am and imo greatest sports car series which ran from about 1966 to 1976(not sure). That fist edition of race cars was killed off when Penske and Porsche brought over the 917 in Can Am form(turbocharged) and blew the doors off all the competition.

Hope this helps, and I was watching the body you won on ebay and thought about you and your dad's rc300 so I'm glad it went to a good home.

Hey, who remembers this Elfin picture on the back cover of the spring '81 edition of "Racing with the Team"? The Associated Elfin was the 1/8 gas Can Am body of choice.
The 1/8 Elfin is being re-produced by Historic RC. Check it out at http://www.historicrc.com/Elfin-CANAM-RC-Car-Body.htm
