Well after a month or so of having to remind her repeatedly, I picked-up from her a beat-up, '94-'98 era Traxxas Bandit with a nasty Mechanical Speed Control and no radio!
It looked like it had been on a cobwebbed garage shelf for a solid 10 years, and the differential felt so nasty, it was as if it had a rubber disc inside instead of gears! It seriously had one of the front axles replaced with a wood screw and a nut...
I decided that this would have to fill the role of my "Bash Buggy", something to do hardcore bashing with, so I didn't have to run my 10T. My roommate and I decided the goal was to build a jump so high, and get the "bash buggy" moving so fast, that it would literally hit the streetlight in front of our house.
I installed a Reedy machine-wound 13 turn double modified motor into it, along with the bulletproof Novak 410-MXC ESC that I used to have in my Team Car.
For the Battery, my roommate pieced-together a 10-cell pack from several old, matched SCRC 1700 cells. It literally took like 40 minutes for his old DigiPeak Plus to charge both 5-cell sections of it!
On her maiden run, we found the bandit wouldn't get any traction whatsoever, and with the battery and the gearing it had, that it would hit around 45 mph!
My roommate hit one of the jumps at full speed, and the bandit flew at least 15 feet high into the air, and sailed for a good 100 feet, but it did not break, although the zip-ties holding the demon battery pack in place both broke!
After securing the demon pack in place with some no-stretch tape, he attempted to hit the jump again, but this time it glitched (75mhz AM radio-what do you expect?) and smacked the telephone pole adjacent to the jumps at full speed, and shattered into many pieces!
The best part is that I already have all the necessary replacement parts, including several spares, headed my way via fleabay for a grand total of $40 shipped!
I will try to capture some video of it hitting the streetlight and put it up on youtube!
