Amazing Wreck

Post by tizeye »

Thought I'd share these pictures with you guys..I came across these old pictures on the net. This happened near a forestry town here in New Zealand. It was a few years ago now, the car in the picture is about 1987 I think. Anyway can't remember what happened to the occupants but it really did happen. The truck driver drove for about 5 miles with this car hanging off the back. Apparently because of the dust from the gravel road he didn't know it was there. The fact that the car was speeding and poor visability all contributed to the wreck...

Ouch, nasty. Is that an "exotic" car in NZ? :D
I was on holiday in NZ for 3 weeks last year and those logging lorries are massive. Hope the occupants were alright?

Yep-The wonders of badge engineering...The Telstar is a Mazda 626/Capella,the 323/Familia is a Ford Laser and so on.
But hey, don't blame the Japanese, blame Detroit!
The General Motors 'A' body,for example...Chevrolet Chevelle,Chevrolet El Camino,Chevrolet Monte Carlo,GMC Cabellero,Buick Skylark/GS (yummy!)Pontiac GTO,Pontiac Le Mans,Oldsmobile Cutlass/4-4-2...All on the same 'A' designation chassis.
Mopar 'B' body-Plymouth Belvedere,Road Runner,GTX,Dodge Coronet,Super Bee,...And so on.

And,no a Ford Telstar is most certainly not exotic!
Pick one up today for a massive $100...Take it where it belongs-A demolition derby.

ALL wrong wheel drive,sorry-front wheel drive cars are a pain to work on,when it comes to anything more than changing the oil or plugs...Oh,wait a minute-the 2006 Nissan Maxima has to have the engine lifted off it's mounts to change the rear most spark plug!

Front wheel drive cars are only built becasue they're cheaper and easier for them to assemble and manufacture.
Period.

Don't get me ranting about cars...Full scale, that is.

I thought of this thread when I saw this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7857469.stm
The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

There's another very good reason why manufacturers design front wheel drive cars - they are much more package efficient in terms of interior space for the occupants.... plus in low grip conditions a FWD car is generally safer for the inexperienced driver than RWD.

Tell me about it. I had an '88 Cougar for 10 years. I loved it, but it was rear wheel drive. If they
even predicted snow I would be stuck in my drive-way. :x
