Batteries batteries batteries need help

Post by Twiceblown351 »

What's the deal with batteries? It seams like ever time i turn around I"m having a battery die After only be a year or less old.

I'm using 4600 batteries and A Novak millennium Charger.

And so what is it the cheap batteries or lack of use I use them only about 1 a mouth or the outdated charger.

I was looking to change up to Li-po but when i seen how dangerous they are and how much care you have to give them I think they're out.

But whats up with them A123 batters They look to be the best thing going right now from what I see.

Thanks

A123 batteries have a very stable chemistry as they are lithium ion. The drawbacks are odd cell size and unconventional voltages/mah. Lithium Polymer batteries are safe as long as the person using them follows a few very simple rules on how to take proper care of them. LiPo batteries are also very similar in size to conventional batteries and offer high mah ratings along with a bunch of punch!
If you are wanting to convert to the newer battery technology I would suggest going with LiPo, check out www.maxamps.com and www.thunderpowerrc.com. The link to A123 is www.a123systems.com

Well the other thing I don't want to do is buy all new ESC to run with LI-po. And I'm not in it for to race .

THat's what !/5scale gas is for. And there's a 6year kid playing with them. And I don,t need some kid walking up to one as fire start coming out of it.

I think thats why there not in hibrid cars, even though that what thay were frist made for.

You can buy a seperate Lipo cut-off and avoid buying a new esc. If that helps.

They make them for any voltage Lipo you would decide on. I would stick with 2s IMHO.
