RC 10 sprue gears,

Post by Rustbucket »

HELLO all MY name is DON, ( THE Rustbucket)
First off I want to say I am happy to be on this board, MY wife and I have racing for over 18 years. Just a couple of months ago I pulled out my old RC 10 T back pan truck, IT needed a lot work and now it is back and runing. Hardly have any problem. BUT I have up dated it alot .
OK MY wife has a stock RC 10 T truck, She dose not want to up date it just wants to leave it stock.
OK just a couple of weeks ago she brought it back to run. THE one main problem were having is striping including new RC 10 T sprue gears. Including new ones , SHE has her set up stock out of the box . SHe take speical care with it. We have done everthing we can think of to stop this problem. We run on a hard clay track here In Portalnd Oregon,
We have replace what ever we needed to get this problem taken care of so has this happen to any body elest, She can run about maybe 1 or 2 5 mins heats and she ends up striping the spure.
She dose not want to up date her truck to the T 4 sprue gear . This is what I did and I no longer have this problem so can any body help with this problem. or give us any ideas on take care of it .
Thankyou DON THE Rustbucket

To add to the last note, We are useing your standard 48 pitch even went to the better kembro gears and that has not stop this problem, She is also runing a 19 trun stock motor. this has also happen to when she ran stock 27 turns. So like I ask dose any body have any ideas on what may be the problem, Thankyou agian DON THE Rustbucket

does the trans have bearings or bushings? if bushings, it could be that they're worn out and it's allowing the topshaft to move around too much. in turn, screwing up the gear mesh while your driving it. the topshaft itself could be worn out, too.

HELLO Doc
NICE TO meet ya
Thank you for your advice. OK She has bearings for the top inside shaft, OK can you tell me how to check to see if she has a bad top shaft and mesh.?
We had not thought about that one? Very good idea we will look into it. What I did with mind. It was getting to the point whear the spure gears was getting hard to get ahold of.
I went and set mind with a T 4 top shaft with the compleast set up, IT works good and I can use the newer spure gear out of the B 3s and newer.
BUT you have to change everthing out . I found out both top shafts had the same amount of teeth. BUT she wants to keep hers as stock as she can. I went out and got her a new brushing kit # 6594 assocated. So were going to do that as well. She is starting to put it together right now and she is now seeing a few different things.
She has been into building kits and racing with myself as long as I have been into it. I just know the assocated a little more, BUT she has not been into RC 10 T for many years.
This is the first time she has taken out her RC 10 T. She loves it but that spure gear is the main problem. She is now wondering if it had the wrong set from the begining. BUT will do what your saying to do. Thank you agian. I will get back to ya on this one,
what she will learn will help both of us later, DON

Thank you so much MY Wife and I are so happy to be on board with all of you, BY the way my wifes name is Diane so she may post once in a wile. She is good when it comes to reworking and building Losi but it has been a wile since she came back to her roots.
YUP we both started with RC 10s and then jump up the rc 10s truck conversions. THEN later went onto the Real trucks;-)

THEN she went onto Losi and I stayed with the RC 10 T for many years and now I have came back home. She has come back with me but still runs her losi. She is having fun reworking her RC 10 T . YES COMEPLeaty stock. She dose not want to up grade.

I had to for my truck was a compleat total. So I up dated mine but the chassie is stock RC 10 T black pan. Still has stock shock towers and tranny except for the up date to T 4 spure.

I have one more RC 10 T that depending on what I have left in parts ;-) after tonight I may try to build one stock one and shelf it .

Well on her problem I dug out all of the Stealth parts as well as another old tranny that I had put a way now she is taking everthing that I had put away and now trying to rebuild hers.
I just want to say thank you to all of you jumping in , WE did not expect this fast reponce for help, Wish we have known about this board about a year ago.

She dose love her RC 10 T . ONE more thing if any of you have seen any of the other boards you will see I am doing everthing I can to get Vintage going again at our local track.
So far it has been slow but it is slowly picking up,
BUT in May we loose our indoor track that is A main Raceway. After may she will be history so another one goes into the history books. Were in Portland Oregon, So if any of you are near the area we race Vintage on firday nights. At least we try to but lately we I have been lucky 2 weeks so far I have been able to put together a Vintage class,

Diane says hi to all of also. thank you so much DON
O yes on other boards I go by the Portland Rustbucket,
SHE is right in the middle of rebuiding right now.

HELLO all this is DON THE Rustbucket,
Just want to say thank to all of you that jump in and help us with our RC 10 T sprue gear problem.
After all of your notes and advice from all of you we tore down the tranny compleatly. Use another case. Then rebuilt the tranny added a new spure gear and redid everything in it compleatly.
It now runs good with no more Sprue striping, We took it down to the track today just to check it out and did not have a problem, I just wanted to make sure we both say thank you for all of the help and advice, Nice to be on board with the rest of ya.

Whats up Don!

Hey guys, Don is responsible for getting me bit by the Vintage bug. He and his wife were around when i first got into RC. He was super friendly and I think even let me drive their cars at the track.

Super great guy with lots of knowledge. He too has quite a collection of old RC10s and Losis.

Glad to see the truck working Don, LMK if you need help!

HELLO all This is DON
.
O NO I have been discoverd by a good buddy of mind, ( MO MO )
YES we have known Momo for many years my wife and I started in the days when they still had wagon ruts and we drove in them that was use for the jumps;-))
Man some of those ruts was deep ;-))

OK All joking a side we started racing about 1990 when the first RC 10s and 10ts came out We both still have our RC 10ts that we pick up new about 1991 or around that time, YES we still have them and we still race them. MIND is now custom and beef up with alot of different parts half losi . Rpm. and T 4 parts.

Diane is into Losi but she likes driving her RC 10 t,That is still like when she got it new and she dose not want to change it all .
I even built her one of the old rc 10s truck converstion that she had many years ago.
I was able to come up with everthing she had except for the deep crome wheels that were JG WHEELS. that she had at that time, I know someday I may run across a set sooner or later then her truck will be compleat. She had a lot of fun with that one.

SO yes Momo is right on what he saying but as alot of you know I still ask questions still dealing with these rigs, I just got into an RC 10 buggys but have spent most of time into the RC 10 T trucks. I am in the process of building a stock RC 10 gold pan.
I do like this board and enjoying being on it .ALot of others has help us and I still thank you . DON That Portland Rustbucket in Portland Oregon
