Awesome!!! Finally!

I have not seen another. I know a bit about them. I have talked to the builder of it BITD on the phone. I have been told he has since passed.

It is unfortunate you repainted the chassis. From a collector's standpoint, the original finish is always more valuable.

For reference, my car is EXACTLY the way I purchased it new. Red frame and all. They sold for $350.00 + shipping :-). I called Bill and requested the red frame. When it arrived I could smell it was still wet :-)

There were many differences; the builder made improvements along the way. I still have the original box it was shipped in (they came completely assembled, minus paint) and instruction manual. I kept an RC mag w/ that tested it too for reference. I specifically bought this car on a gamble that old RC cars would become collectible and this thing was just too cool to pass up.

Awesome find.

Here's what I do know about it:

There were definitely more than three made. Granted, they are not high production, like Losi or Associated, but definitely more than three were made.

It was shipped completely assembled. The body was clear lexan, mfr'd by American Racing, consisting of a tail cone, driver panels, wing, and cowl. the aluminum side panels on my car were fabricated by me. They were offered as an option, so the ones on you car could be factory. The headers are not produced by the builder of the car and I forget who made them. Some of the hobby shop parts used to complete the car by the builder include Associated, Dubro, Traxas, Advance, and Tamiya. This made replacements easier to obtain when needed.

MSRP was $350.00. I have been offered much more than that :D

Here what I do not know:

How many were made. I have know idea. The builder was from Albuquerque. I tried to contact him to no avail.

How it drives. I never drove it. It has been a shelf queen all its life. The reports BITD were that they worked well, but honestly, I bet the lighter, easier to set-up RC10's and Losi's smoked it. Who knows for sure.

How much it is worth. Please don't ask me. I don't know. I have been offered a quite a bit already, but not enough yet for me to part with it. It's a cool toy and I like having it.

Here is some additional pictures:

Unpainted driver on top of wing:

Original shipping box. I purchased this car in August, '91:

Instruction sheet with Co name, owner/builder, location and contact. Let me know what you find out:

Check the stagger. The radio tray and battery tray are just white sheet plastic zip tied to the chassis. They are original. Era correct electronics:

That driver figure is exactly the same as the one in the BBT body set that I just got off ebay...even has the same molding fault on the front of the helmet..between the helmet and his chest is a bit of lexan that's not supposed to be there... your car is so cool...how about $800... 8)

cornfed, Tperfusly thank you for all the information and pictures. I know it would have been worth more collector wise untouched but I couldnt look at it like that no more. I needed and wanted a nice one for a change. I don't ploan on racing this car much how ever I do plan on hauling it to the track and playing with it on playdays and such other than that It'll be a shelfer.

I do thank every one for their comment's and hope that they keep comming in. The more you guys comment the more excited and knoledgeable I become on these cars. I will have some more pictures of the other cars as well as I this one, as I get them completed. Also please cherck the BST section as i will be adding stuff that I do not need or want.

It looks like the orange car started life as a Custom Works Enforcer 10.

It had the Enforcer front suspension but used a RC10 Stealth trans and rear suspension.

It appears someone cut the front of the cage off. They also changed the front arms and shock tower.

All of the parts are still available to build a competitive car.

For steering you could use the CW 3207 steering rack assembly or the Dynotech rack found here: http://dynotech-racing.com/partDetail.php?RefNum=3207D

Any ideas as to where I could get a new cage? I have tracked down everything but that.
