Still waiting on a few things, but I should be able to start reassembly this week. I've been using the peroxide method on the old white parts, but this time I added some Dollar Tree "Oxy" Clean to the mix, a perfect eye-ball amount. Other than the obvious, it's hard to tell which parts were NOS and which came with this truck.

That chassis looks pretty straight/clean. Nice work turning back the clock on these old parts.

Heading into the home stretch on this project. Waiting on some new steering blocks/spindles...the one's I have fit nitro fronts and pushes the width way too wide. I may have cheated a little here and there, besides...it is RC10Talk, so I added AE spring retainers and shock collars  I'll be doing a tribute body for this, similar to my Sledgehammer from earlier this year.

Yes and I think the MIP goodies (for the 272 "Magnum") are still somewhat "widely" available.....

And a guy could always shear the rear arm mounts from the gearbox assembly and use the separate mounts if the chassis is drilled for them. I THINK.

You can still find those proline transmission cases and I think you can drop the 272 internals right into them
https://www.ebay.com/itm/PRO6092-01-Pro-Line-Plastic-Transmission-Case-Set/401485513642?_trkparms=aid%3D1110001%26algo%3DSPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20191002094254%26meid%3D54b655d5d20f4341ad4dd5c985d7c519%26pid%3D100891%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D324039037911%26itm%3D401485513642%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2332490&_trksid=p2332490.c100891.m5206

And the MIP stuff for the 272

Thanks for the help, I replaced all the internals with the VXL gears. Kept the vintage spur/slipper for the cool factor!

I'm calling this one good for now. Someday I'll pick up the correct body and decals and tidy up some odds and ends. Thanks again for all of the help!

Whoa!!! Nice work. I love those dished wheels. And the black and white parts look fine. I'm definitely not a purist when it comes to making an old TRX rig whole again. Dig the old school spikes too.

Are those the original side guards or did you make some new ones? When the JRXT came out with the factory lexan side guards, I just HAD to make some for my TRX-T Eagle bitd. I think there was an RCCA Pit Tips I was loosley following with the ones I made. Are those servo taped in place?

They were the ones on the truck when it arrived from Ebay...not sure if they were stock or not, but definitely vintage with the o.g. decals. I just cleaned them up and yes, servo taped back on.
