Schuco Tobby 1:12
Re: Schuco Tobby 1:12
...luckily the cockpit was painted black the holes could be overlook a little bit...
Re: Schuco Tobby 1:12
For the paint I decieded to try to make it "Box art" - a simple one colour paint with a yellow-ocher colour -> It seems the "Bright yellow" from pactra (I had to check about the name of this yellow colour - pactra offers a normal yellow and a neon yellow - this third yellow was between normal yellwo and neon) seems to work best; covered with (sprint)white and black in the end looks quite nice... Some painted black areas undersore the box look and the plan was to use some small ornamental strips against the original stickers to get that perfect look...
But at the LHS the price for this relatevely simple thin black tape seems to expensive - also no black selftaping film so I could cut out the lines by my self with an xacto...but I remember I had same thin tape laying around in the hobby room so I could spare the money... HUGE MISTAKE...if you know your trim line tape is OLD get your coins together and buy a new one...otherwise it is possible if this happens to you also...
After laying the tape down to the already painted and stickered body the "cover"film lift of and leaves the black color in places on the body...if you touch it with your fingers the colour had no coat and just blurs...ugly...I remove al the tape, try to remove the black arrears with brake cleaner as good as possible and just use a thin edding permanent marker...

Old-school 1/12 bodies still look light years better than the modern ones with tiny, tiny cockpits (I think they should change the body rules so cockpits are scale too). The Schuco looks much more like a real car. The only weird thing is how the rear axle seems to be too narrow.

I think I need pics from more angles.
Seriously though, that's a nice car I'd never heard of, and you've done a beautiful job...but it's on my list for top 5 worst RC car names.
