Getting my groove on with the soldering iron this morning. I'm using a beat up (on the bottom) chassis plate that I got from eBay as a jig, to make sure the batteries are spaced correctly. I then joined the batt. top and bottom with hot glue. Closest place to get Shoe Goo is an hour away... not happening. I pre-tinned everything with some nice Novak silver bearing solder using a vintage Unger 50 watt soldering iron. While in my wire box, I happened to come across a short length of vintage STAGE III SUPER 13 wire! Definitely will use that for the jumper.

Wow, this 610-RV is kind of big. I'll get a pic posted first chance I get. I'm going to be rather busy tomorrow. :?

That 610 is too early for your L3

The L3 was introduced in 1998
The 610-RV was 1990 -1992

Something like a Novak Cyclone or Novak Atom would be period correct for a racing ESC

Thank you for the information. I'll start hunting for another Novak esc, The 610-rv was a nice score, no regrets!

I'm looking at a few used Cyclone esc's on eBay. I have scored a Novak XXL RX from the same place. Nice one, condition 9 of 10.

I've a pretty decent bunch of electronics now, only a few more things to get a hold of to go hot. NIP motor, mint condition RX, and from a brother here on the forum @SofaKing a nice condition ESC. I downloaded a copy of the Atom instructions and see that I will need some caps and a Schottky diode for the motor and a power cap for the speed control. I'm going to try and find these parts on eBay. :?

The diodes are no big deal, they should be easy to find.

There is a thread on the caps here, I had located the original style for $.44 a pop at one point

Thanks Jeff. I found some caps easy on eBay. Do you know/have the specs for the diode?

Only what Novak put in the manual. There were a lot of different ones out there back in the day. I wouldn’t bother digging too much trying to find who Novak used as I’m sure it changed

OK, I have the Schottky diode and power cap on the way. Can anyone help point me toward the small caps that go on the motor?

Edit: Found the motor caps, they are on the way.

OK, working on my own here with a little help from Jeff.

Here's what I've managed to find/buy...
12L3electrics.jpg
The small ceramic caps that I got for the motor have short leads on them, might be a problem going to the side of the can. They were cheap enough, so no big deal. Wire, from the esc to battery pack and motor, have to get some from TQ Wire this coming week, along with some Deans connectors. I've noticed that the Deans have a different shade of orange color now. It would be cool to find a couple of sets in the original color.

The motor has the caps and diode installed.

I'm going to hunt around today, surely I have some wire I can use...

Search complete!

I found some Deans connectors (forgot I had them) and some Novak Super-Flex wire in the stash. Hopefully there's enough red wire to get the job done. I'm staring at the car, figuring out how everything should be routed and use the plugs on both the motor and battery. The tape on the batteries is temporary, I don't have any strapping tape on hand.
