Finally finished the stock build.

Had to put 7 spacers in each of the rear shocks and use the short shock ball ends.
3 tamiya1050 plastic bushings under front body mount with a long screw i found in my rc10 box of bits (it's an aluminium Phillip head, so I don't know which car it came from)
Trimmed off bottom of battery trays so that lipo packs can sit 1.5mm lower
I'm at a lost how to deal with the chassis flex.

Should I run it as is?

We will have Factory Works chassis braces and aluminum pulleys in a couple weeks, I think you will find them worth the wait. Don't need to be used together, but the larger pulley has more belt wrap so it slips less, and the stiffener lets you run the belt slightly looser since you don't have to account from flex

Note that chassis flex and bending is pretty bad with the rerelease chassis in general, it's just more apparent as you can hear the belt skipping on the 4wd. With the new chassis brace if you are taking monster jumps you could well bend or break something else. These old pans just were never meant for the jumps on modern tracks. We would bend our stock chassis back after races back in the day and those were way smaller jumps.

Any thoughts on making a bolt on/through undercarriage protector/stiffener? I know an upper deck/brace would be a better solution, but enough fiberglass or carbon fiber still add some stiffness and could be a universal fit for all the tub chassis.

Wouldn't be something I'd explore, but maybe someone will.

Would be a good use for a graphite chassis with a broken noseplate. The upper deck stuff is a better option and you can use less material to get the same stiffness.

Will the chassis brace mount to the rear "stiffeners" and the front gear housing? Similar to the YZ10?

I didn't find the added braces that AE made useful at all, so I didn't tie into them with our new brace. The brace will be out soon, but I will say for now at least that you can use any battery mounting and position without any clearance issue

I'll definitely be keen to get the pulleys and braces... although I wonder how the braces might fit... after all, the front tensioner is kinda in thr way.

I'll definitely pay for longer axles, both front and back... front +1.5, rear +2. Then i can run full droop.

We run on a rutted (often times) outdoor loose dirt track, so more droop is better...

Oh well... until the parts become available then!

Some pics of the minor "mods" i made to hopefully make it better.

The braces like we run on the Ten4 won't work well on the AE due to the tensioner as you mentioned. Our system for the AE car is vastly different than the one for our ten4

Looking forward to it!^^

Do the larger pulleys fit right onto the car without other mods?

Looking forward to picking up all my Factory Works gear. My 4wd will be decked out in it. The way i see it Factory Works is at least a little, if not a lot of what I wish AE still was. Small but specialized company run by someone or a team of people passionate about our addictive little hobby and making quality parts that work. To me that was part of the original allure of AE

Another thought I had regarding the issues that come with this kit... every day I feel a little better about my Fan FR-01. At first my concern was that Fan would not have paid as much attention to detail and quality and therefore it would always be slightly inferior to my original. Well as it turns out AE can't even be held up to standards it set a long time ago. I feel like at a very minimum the quality is just as good as current AE stuff maybe even closer to what we all remember. I bought a gold team car and this 4wd kit. I'm not sure what I'm going to feel when this graphite kit drops.

The new pulleys will go on the stock AE shafts, and I'm updating our Ten4 shafts to be compatible as well so going forward we will be able to share. The larger pulleys require a longer belt which we have, same as our Ten4. The stiffner will be AE only, the two stiffner styles won't be compatible across platforms unfortunately.

Truthfully, i would buy a restomoded rc10 designed with metric 3mm screws all round (there isn't really a need for 4mm, is there? ), metric bearings , modern 2.5 IGR tranny with modern spurs and ability to switch to gear diff.

Oh, I thought the belt was the same. No worries. As long as i can just order it along with the pulleys. Thanks MachV I'll surely be inquiring about all the necessary kit. Eventually... when I find the time to build it.

Has anyone seen or used the Fan Rc stealth with gear diff? As I've mentioned probably too much I'm constantly browsing for a stealth tranny to put in my old graphite car. I haven't quite given up on the hopes I'll find the original in my parents basement but I came across that Fan gearbox the other day. What's the advantages/ disadvantages of a gear diff? I always just assumed ball diff was better.

As far as rear axles go, are the AE 6376 universals and AE 6371 CVA 3/16" our only options currently? I assume they're both the same equal length of being too short?
I'm collecting parts for a Ten4.1 build and trying to decide which ones to go with.
