Hey, I drove an '80 Yota for 7 years before buying my '95 GMC. That was one heck of a work horse, and never once complained. The GMC was equally hard working and reliable. The last Ford I drove caught fire while I was driving it! Would have had a car-b-que, had I not been pulling into a suppliers yard and known where the hose was before it became too serious.

Since I was 15, I have owned cars made by just about every major automotive manufacturer—from Jeep to Ford, Chevy, VW, Audi, BMW, Porsche, Honda to Nissan, Chrysler to Buick, and I've been around ALL types of cars my entire life. They all have their flaws and shortcomings, and they all do something well. They all have reasons to be adored, too.

As far as I'm concerned, if it has wheels and runs, it's ok in my book. Closing your mind of to one brand or another because of who made it (or where you think it was made) is short-sighted and narrow minded. It might not be your taste or style, but you should at least learn to appreciate what other brands have to offer.

When I read Hot Rod and see the editors hazing BMWs and Porsches for no apparent reason, or see a writer in European Car blast a stereotype about a Camaro owner, it irritates me to no end. Step out of your Neanderthal bubble and enjoy ALL that the the automotive world has to offer.

Well said Rouge, and a point that I generally convey in times like these, but sometimes a guy's just gotta pick on the other guys who don't know any better than to drive a Ford.

All cars do suck and to be honest, all made in America tend to be the worst.

Why? Too many reasons to list, but the big ones are:
- The big three spend more time and money on talking about working as opposed to actually doing work. Trust me on this.... this was one of the main reasons why I left. I can't count how many times they would establish a budget, start down that path, then when the FY (Fysical Year) was over re-eval that budget and some exec would get a wild hair up his arse and turn the program upside down.... bottom line: WASTED DOLLARS
- Rich America! As we all evolve, every American demands a higher and higher salary... heck I graduated from college in 1996 and I think back about what my first job paid me, I can't fathom how I survived..... my fault... maybe, but I place the blame more so on the world we live in. Oh, and in the mean time, all the suppliers are getting squeezed to produce parts for $10.00 less, which is a HUGE amount for a supplier per piece cost..... bottom line: let's cut cost = quality so we can give the execs a $100K bonus this year.
- Another thing about society, this is the truth, the OE design cars to literally fall apart after 60,000 miles, seriously. They have studies that show that the majority of John Q out there is going get there lease and get a new car year after year or buy a new one every two to three years. Lease are great deals for the dealers and manufs. bottom line: why bothering designing it to last, the turn over rate makes it a non-issue.

There are so many more reasons.... I could go on and on, but I will get off my horse.

How this ties into the foreign automakers???????............ more so for those in the East, it HAS been a different mind set for a long time which equaled a better quality vehicle overall, but due to the worship of the $$$$$ and the spread of capitialism, the foreign automakers and those rice burners are slowing loosing their quality as well.

that's the biggest reason i'm starting to hate working on cars in the collision industry. everything is push, push, push to get the job in and out. all the while, sacrificing quality. i have a real hard time doing a rush job on a car someone is spending a lot of money each month to pay for. i wouldn't want that done to my vehicles, so i won't do it to anyone elses.
