They look fantastic 8) I think I'm going to do one of these I got loads of chassis laid about. :D Great work and a brilliant idea. :)

I'm working on my own idea too! would it be possible to see a pict from the front, rear and top with the body mounted on it?

I'm copying this idea big time.... But I'd like to make a new chassis.

This buggy rocks! :D

OK, you can copy

Post by scollins »

I guess I will take it as a compliment that you guys want to copy this so badly.........

This happens to me at work too, people are always "borrowing" my concepts, can be frustrating at times when no credit is recieved for the innovations.

But with RC stuff, I love to share my ideas with fellow hobbyists. And I know you guys are kind enough to give me a compliment or two. Kind of hard to not copy this since I think this chassis mod idea is long overdue. (And quite simple to do)

Just think of all the possibilities if you wanted to "clone" a popular, detailed off roader from Tamiya but wanted a really solid RC10 chassis underneath...........scollins

Looks amazing scollins :!:

Needs a decent paint job now. Do you have any ideas or will you leave it clear?

Thanks dude

Thanks Minicooper35! I knew this would turn out well and get a few people excited..

yes, it will be painted- the one pictured was built for a friend and he wanted to paint it... As for mine, I am going to do one as a multi-colored racer, and one as a "mild" one color job with some neat details.

That bug looks killer Matt. I'm glad you were able to put the composite craft stuff to good use. your post reminds me I need to call JPS and see what is taking your wheels so long.

Your stoking me. I am still waiting on a few things. But here is my idea. When I was a kid, my dad and his brothers use to take beetles and cut like a foot or so out of the middle of the car to shorten it. Then they would weld bars up and around to make for support and protection. Until we got into atv's in the mid 80's, that was our fun in the mountains, homemade dune buggies. So I want to take a frame and cut out, in a zig zag fashion, the mid section. Like my dad use to do. I think it will be more work, but a fun project none the less.

If shortening is the subject of choice:
