XXcr old car new paint/ new problems
I dont know what came over me I havent touched anything RC in months, other than my HPI RS4 MT. I guess running it around my yard was enough. I painted up a body for it yesterday and inspired me to dig out my XX and through some paint on it to. I painted them in the same Racing colors I have have ran for 20 years, but changed the sceam up a little. I like this sceam the best yet. I need to redo the wing wire it is to short and the wing is all up on the shock tower. its a HPI hard wing who do you like the yellow wing?
Re: XXcr old car new paint
Geeze Rick, i thought you dropped off the map! (I know i did) Nice paint on both of those cars. Glad to see the old RS4 in new colors. I have been busy with so many things this summer - none of them RC related. I've only checked in here once or twice in the last few months and have only put together 1 JRX2 in all that time. It needs a body so I'll be getting one soon I hope. I just started tearing down my Hotshot last weekend to replace some of the worn parts. I'll also be throwing together a runner Hotshot with all of the spares I have. As the weather deteriorates I'll probably get back into this rc stuff again. I have made some progress on my 1:1 cars though.

Yea the RS4 is the red and yellow one I got from you. It now has a 10.5 brushless in it, and it screams!!! The Ford body just didnt do anything for me I like the Dodge better.RedScampi wrote: Glad to see the old RS4 in new colors. :

Re: XXcr old car new paint
I think its a 1970 Plymouth Scamp same as a Dodge Dart. dont quote me on the year I think its a 70-71?
Re: XXcr old car new paint
Yes indeed, it is a Plymouth Scamp although it's a '72. (The bumpers are missing in the picture) The motor is a 360. These cars came with /6 or 318 motors from the factory. I never could understand why Plymouth never made an equivalent to the 340 Darts out of this body. It had good looks with the Duster nose and was all Dart from the cowl back. It was lightweight and everything to change it to a muscle car is/was a bolt on.
Rick, i figured that was the RS4 you got from me but it looks completely different now! Geat paint! I like how the color scheme works together with the 'CR. You can tell they belong to the same team but they're not identical.

Re: XXcr old car new paint
Rick my Brother-my old XX CR never looked so good!
Nice job,mate.
Scampi-I love that Plymouth Scamp of yours-I always preferred them to Darts, for some reason.
Looks truly menacing in matt black, man!
Going for Plum Crazy as seen underhood?
That's going to look great.
I'm a Ford guy,but sweet Mopars always get my attention.
I'd love to get a Dart or Scamp and wedge a 426 Hemi crate motor in one!
Shoot it primer grey with matt black hood and front fenders!
Aaaah,I can dream,can't I?

Re: XXcr old car new paint
Thanks, I love your car they should have done a 340 car!! the fastback duster is almost the same car just a different roof line. what were they thinking? I like this roof line better, but I like a car with a nice trunk. my torino is on the lift downstairs with her rear out, and the bottom getting scraped for a good thick coat of under coating. then a new 325 traction lock. and back together for a good summer of crusing hopefuly with some new paint if not cruze in primer.RedScampi wrote:Yes indeed, it is a Plymouth Scamp although it's a '72. Re: XXcr old car new paint
Hey guys, thank you for the compliments on the car. At the risk of hijacking this thread - and going way off topic - I should point out that the engine bay picture is actually of my second car. This one is still under construction. I have an 8-3/4 Suregrip with 3.23 gears that I got from Rick (thanks Rick!) that will be going under this car along with heavy duty springs. It has buckets and a console but i am thinking about putting a B&M starshifter in it instead - don't know yet. I added Kelsey Hayes four piston disk brakes and it has all new suspension parts. The motor is only a 318 but it came out of a running 34 Plymouth and i got it for free! I added a new cam, valve springs, pushrods and lifters, gaskets, Doug's headers, mini starter, waterpump, fuel pump, timing set, etc. and stripped and repainted the whole thing. I also replaced the slant 6 K member with a V8 K member. Saving up now for an aluminium radiator and Stewart Warner gauges.
Rick, lets see some pictures of that Torino! I love those cars but i've never owned one. Faster - I was always a GM guy for years. I jumped ship about three years ago on a whim and I've never looked back. The Mopars get more interest than I ever got with a GM product. OK, I'll add one shot of the JRX-2 that I cobbled together this summer so I can say I'm on topic.
I took a couple of beater cars apart and came up with this, not perfect but I'll do.

Re: XXcr old car new paint
Good Lord willing this is what it will look like when I am done!! but I am going to run my weld wheels for a more race car look. like my friends Orange 1970 429 Super Cobra jet car.
Re: XXcr old car new paint
Cool Rick. Both those cars look pretty decent, I would have had a hard time choosing which one to cannibalize. I like the low road racer stance in the first picture. Looks wicked!

Re: XXcr old car new paint
The Red car the rear section is 96% rust free, the orange car looks are very deceiving. the front frame rails are rusted in half!! but the sheet metal is good, so its a no brainer I will post some pics the red cars is on a home made dollies, the whole car is gutted except some interior. that will be gone tomorrow. I built some casters out of box tubeing abd some old bumper brackets. getting it ready for the blaster.
