Marui Samurai Purchase
Spent maybe a little too much, but this car looks mint, dont think i could ask for better unless its NIB and if i were to build it part by part of ebay i woulda spent $200 on 6 parts lol. Plan to clean it up and shelf it.. i dont want to get a runner going and will probably look for another in poorer condition.
I'll get some better pics once it arrives

THE MIGHTY SAMURAI WARRIOR!,
Nice purchase Mike. I realy love running my car and you'll be suprised just how power efficient and how well this car drives. Darryn inspired me to get one of these cars a couple of years back when he drove his at the first vintage meeting held here in Australia. I love mine.

Re: Marui Samurai Purchase
i dont think they are terribly desirable to be honest, ive been watching two this week that ended in the 120-140 range, but werent anywhere near mint, one had a box, and the other a few extra parts... of course im probably shooting myself in the foot by posting pictures because then people see them and start wanting one lol. but its all about sharing i guess

Re: Marui Samurai Purchase
The funny thing is that this site, and a few others like it probably dictate the market for all our vintage stuff. It's kind of like old Mopars. Nobody wanted them for years then someone applied the word "classic" and suddenly you had to be a minor nobleman to afford one. This is definitely a "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" hobby.

Re: Marui Samurai Purchase
hey thats exactly right. ive seen some "ugly" cars sell on ebay for big bucks, and that just means they are ugly to me... but for someone else its a thing of beauty or holds sentimental value or they are just buying it to complete a "collection".
either way the market goes up and down... Ultima's were always a cheap car on ebay, but as people on tamiyaclub and here build them, and others see them, and want one, the prices start climbing and climbing and climbing till they are at the point where i look at a ended auction and say wtf! to myself lol.
rc10's are great to collect because they made a billion parts for them, they made a ton of kits over the years, and on any given time on ebay there are bound to be 10-15 reasonable complete cars out there, along with some parts that are still avalable from associated or aftermarket. Minus the chassis, i think for the most part, you can make a pretty original RC10 with new parts available from tower or ebay stores for a reasonable price.

Re: Marui Samurai Purchase
Nice car, Mike!
I just recently picked one up and the car is in really nice shape but the tires are dryrotted. Damn shame, they are almost new....
Anybody here know what size the stock tires are and if there is a reasonable option for rubber? Obviously the new stockers would be preferred, but rare.....
I know I can fit the HPI's on it and go with newer stuff, but I really love the look of the stock wheels. Pargu has them in aluminum (yummy).......

Re: Marui Samurai Purchase
i ordered up the repro body and stickers here.. cage i had was near perfect, repainted and redid stickers.. the repro stickers were the Highest quality, BUT the metallic side panels, werent metallic rather just a light/medium/dark grey and werent back in white so they were a bit translucent. When mounted they look good... and since its the only option for repro decals, im happy
polished up the shocks and roof, repainted driver, and threw on some CRP clamps i had for rear shocks. probably gonna keep my eyes out for new tires, but these are decent condition

Great job again. ( Your on a roll )
I think I might have some new tires in the bag. As I keep cleaning up I will keep an eye out for you.
