Can anyone idenitfy this car?

Post by Mikeyboy »

I acquired this car with some others as a package deal. Does anyone know what the heck is? I thought it might be a Schumacher, but it has Kyosho tires.
Any thoughts?

That's weird. 5 minutes ago I was waking up with the same idea.

Does it have a belt conversion too?

Looks like it might have some transmission goodies hidden inside as well, note the 48p counter gear (white). Betcha it's got the belt drive conversion too 8)

Definitely, like the other said, an Optima. The chassis looks like it might be a modified JG for an Optima Mid or could even be a modded PB. The vertical chassis plates are from Trinity. They made replacement parts from graphite and are pretty cool, at least from my perspective. I've got a NIP set for a future project. Nice car for sure.

agree with you Jay........:D

I think the side-plate chassis is by Trinity.........but not sure about the lower chassis .......the bumper is JG......& the front skid plate was shortened without the U-shaped frame........

What you see is what I got. I'd like to get her running again but I would need to figure out that belt drive. Its missing whatever goes in between the spur gear on the tranny and pinion on the motor. There is a shaft with whats left of a bearing in between the two.

If the bumper is JG, then it is likely the chassis is as well.

The part you're missing has nothing todo with the belt: it is a spur with a smaller gearon the backside. This would be standard ultima/optima material if it wasn't for the fact your car has been adapted to 48 pitch. Robinson racing and rw are 2 possible sources to replace the spur, otherwise, and probably a lot easier; you'll have to rel-place that gear on the topshaft. (You're also missing the gearcover by the way)

The belt or chain is what connects the front to the rear : have you had a look under that plastic cover?

Haven't looked under there yet. So the pinion drives a double gear in between the spur?

awkward way to put it, but yes

if you look around the forum you should find a link to an optima or ultima manual. Except for the teeth size your car is no different from those

Thanks for all the info guys. I looked under the cover and it has a belt under there. I'm still trying to find that spur gear at a reasonable price.
