RPM RC10

Post by Brandon G »

Winter time means getting the back burner projects done. This was one for me.

Got the car about a year back. Came to me very dirty, but in good condition. Everything was dyed before I got it so.... The front shock tower was busted, so I placed an order with Fibrelyte for new ones. Added pargu's 2.2" jelly bean wheels. The motor is a B&R '91 Green Meanie. It came with Kyosho equalizer shocks, so I swapped them out with some Associated dampers. Added an RPM gear cover and the body is a Hot Bodies Stealth Fighter from my stash. I especially like how the body fits in the rear around the shocktower and wing tubes. Very tidy.

I will get some better pics after paint. The condition of some of the RPM stuff is not perfect, but it's close enough for me.

Looks great, Brandon. Those Pargu wheels look nice on this buggy. I know I should know the answer already, but what are the parts you used for the steering - the carriers and spindles?

steering is RPM (made for the Ultra Molded Chassis) and steering knuckles look like Robinson 18°. Anyway, awesome car Brandon, as usual. This is probably one of my favourite conversion for the RC10. 8)

Asso_man is right on the money. RPM bellcranks and Robinson (Jammin) blocks/spindles. They say that if you run an imaginary line at the same angle as the pins it ends up right in the center of the tread of the front tire. I've never really used them on a runner, so I can't attest as to how well they work.

Retro of course! I just can't get into the new fangled tribal stuff that is running rampant these days.

That looks really nice, I didn't realise RPM did a whole chassis kit for the RC10, dare I say it.... it kinda reminds me of a Losi JRX Pro SE. What sort of era was the chassis kit released?

......& those front hubs are wild!

Wheels look well, as does the modern shell 8)

Neat car Brandon, glad you're doing the retro thing. The new graphics are flashy and all but I can't tell with most if they were custom painted or came from an assembly line. I have been lusting after a set of those Pargu jelly bean rims for some time as well.

The RPM Worlds conversion was one of the few RC10 upgrades that I always wanted but never got a hold of. Looks great!

Nice looking RPM10. How well does that Chassis handle as compared to a TUB or Graphite?\

Also, a hobby shop near me has some RPM Narrow rear A-arms in the RC10 section. are they for the car in this thread?

I've never driven one, but Hoopty ran the truck version at the vonats. Looked pretty hooked up to me. I think Travis was running the buggy version there too. I was too busy racing with him to see how it was doing! :D

The narrow RPM RC10 arms in black are still available, so they are not too rare. They are if they were white however. Anyway, they are not the same as the ones on this car. These are wider and are designed to be mounted more inboard in the rear and maintaining legal width. Dynotech is making a pretty good copy of these arms tho.
