I'm sure we all suffer from the same "collecting gene" problems.

I have collected, in the last 20 years at any given point:

- Vintage R/C cars
- Redline Hot Wheels cars & accessories
- Minichamps 1:43 F1 and LeMans diecast
- Jesse James/West Coast Chopper 1:18th scale motorcycles (want any?)
- Vintage BMX bikes
- Vintage mountain bikes
- Hockey & baseball cards
- Baseball caps
- N-scale trains
- Stamps
- Wheat pennies, state quarters and $2 bills
- Beer cans
- Vintage formula car/racing magazines

Of that list, I have managed to sell many of the collections for profit, and get out from under my collecting issues. I still have most of the Redline Hot Wheels to sell, as well as a large chunk of my Minichamps touring cars and F1 models, and all of those damn Jesse James bikes. I have a coffee mug with my wheat pennies and $2 bills, and that's about it. I can honestly say that I no longer actively collect anything at this point. More stuff has left the house over the last 2 years than has come in, by a large margin. Feels better to not be buried under boxes of "collections" anymore.

The only other hobby I've ever been involved in besides R/C was comic book collecting in the 90's. That was the peak of its popularity.

Woodworking for me. This Barbie Armoir was the first thing out of my shop after a 15 year hiatus. It was part of a contest that the local woodworking group had. Everyone was given a photocopy of plans out of a magazine and told to go make the project. At the end of the time period, they would be judged and the winner would get a prize.

Problems:
1 - The plans were extremely unclear.
2 - The plans were not to scale, so after all the work of building it, it could not be used for it's intended purpose. I was the only one to scale the plans correctly before building.
3 - Because of my work schedule I was unable to complete the project in time for the contest, and in all honesty, mine was the best. The beotch of it is, I only had the hinges left ...
4 - Miniature raised panels (yes, all those are real raised panels ) are tough! LOL

I used to be a computer gamer but they all started to feel the same. Then my son left for college and I pretty much lost all interest in that. When I was young I collected stamps, still have quite a collection since they don't take up any room. I am also a passive coin collector. What I mean by that is that I've never bought a single coin for myself but I've inherited a pretty decent pile of world coins and US coins and currency over the years. I got into building model cars when I was younger but it's too expensive for what I got out of it. I still collect and build models out of cardstock - cheap and clean and the variety of subjects is limitless. It's a big hobby in Eastern European countries. Aside from all of that I have my full size Mopars. Nothing showroom but they are fun to tinker with.

Impressive video game collection. In the past I have collected 1/18 scale cars and tons of Spawn Action figures. The spawn stuff was really a way for my ex father in law to connect. All that stuff is in bins waiting to get craigslisted.

I am still active with radio control cars but really haven't done much with them in the past two years. I've been slowly selling off my stuff so that I can focus on the stuff I really like.

Since my divorce, what is important has really come into focus so I've made changes in my life. I do more things with my son that I ever did before.

beyond the RC car stuff, which is actually re-newed just recently after a good 15 yr or so hiatus, the primary hobby is more like a second job. Basically restoring/building/hot rodding classic and muscle cars, and newer stuff as well, to about '93 or so vintage.

custom parts, welding, fabricating, engine assembly, manual trans work, rear axle, etc etc etc.....about the only thing we don't do is bodywork and auto trans.

My other hobby is vintage cameras. Mostly german, more specifically Afga/ansco. I was into photography to begin with, but the vintage stuff all started at an estate sale where I picked up some old guys collection of Agfa and Ansco cameras.

I'm not sure if this facebook link will work without the proper accessibility, but here it goes
My Vintage Camera Collection

if not here is the latest 2 cameras, not Agfa or Ansco, but one Japanese (Yashica) and the other American (Kodak)

Other than RC, which I got back into 4 years ago after a nearly 15 year hiatus, my biggest hobby is collecting Three Investigators books. I even created a rather involved website about 10 years ago: http://www.tunneltwo.com
I'm not that active collecting the books anymore, as I pretty much have all the copies I want, but I still maintain the site when I have time and I've started reading the books to my daughter.

I also like doing home improvement stuff and woodworking. In fact, I'm about to start building all new kitchen cabinets, with a scheduled gut of the kitchen (those original, metal 1960 cabinets have to go!) and installation in June. So, my next three months are booked! :D

I collect Americana- and what I see here in many various ways is the same thing. Every article from furniture, rug, art etc in our home is all antique. I also collect old paper money

My passion for old RC10's is the same thing, IMO it is distinctly Americana, chasing the 50's feeling about the world, childhood if you will

My other hobby/job is photography, both digital and 35mm.

But the main passion in my life is DSM (Diamond Star Motors) building/driving/collecting...Mitsubishi Eclipse's, Eagle Talon's, Plymouth Laser's. Basically these are AWD modern muscle cars to you old guys.

I've owned four Eagle Talon's up to this point and currently have one as a daily driver. I also have an '06 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX SE that's my baby. I'm in the beginning stages of building a 92-94 AWD drag/street car.

My brother is almost finished building his '95 AWD Eagle Talon drag/street car that we are hoping will have close to 1000 AWHP.

Riding my bicycles. I don't really collect anything.

My #1 killer of free time is painting. Here is my work, for those who haven't seen it. http://sjobakken.com/

Damn, Scott, your talent is extremely impressive!!!! I can't ever wrap my head around perspective and scale, your artwork looks like a real picture that has been run through computer imaging software to look like a painting; I hope that comes across as a compliment, because it is totally meant as one!

Appart from vintage RC I enjoy buying, selling and racing speedway of all types.Heres a few of my cars from the last couple of years. My faivorite was the Monza but I didnt finish it before it was sold.Unfortunately my wife has put her foot down and reclaimed the back yard so I only have one Falcon street stock that Im building now that isnt yet worthy of pics.I hav not been actively racing for around 1 year now but still attend race meets as a spectator.I used to do real well in speedway karts. We would travel all over Qld with my best result winning the north Old titles in outlaw class and overall win. That was back in 2005.We are moving to properly soon as we just put our house on the market so I can have my own speedway, rally and RC tracks.Cant wait.
