Re: 834B Delta Desert Racer aka "Delta Dog"
Awesome! Stunning! Stupendous, Delicious!
I've dyed the stock yellow wheels but they feel like more of a nylon than the other parts. You'd guess that they would be similar to the '10 bellcranks, will take dye with enough effort. Use the liquid with not much dilution, and keep it hot, where it's nearly steaming and not boiling. I can try it on an old used battery tray 'cause I'm curious too. That would look too slick black! The strap TA linked is for a chassis with cell slots. Won't work with that one.

I just noticed that with the chassis..ooops

I'd be interested in seeing the battery tray taking dye as well.
If things seem under control, you are just not going fast enough.

I have a black battery tray and it's not painted...all this time I thought it was special, but I could see how it may have been dyed I'll try to get some pics up this evening.

Doug, any updates here? Still wondering what kind of body you'll use.

Re: 834B Delta Desert Racer aka "Delta Dog"
Nothing lately on this buggy. Still need to dye some parts black and have been waiting to compile some RC10 parts as well so I only have to get black dye all over the place once. Not sure on the body yet. Hopefully will make some progress in the next month or two.a01butal wrote:Doug, any updates here? Still wondering what kind of body you'll use.

Re: 834B Delta Desert Racer aka "Delta Dog"
As many have said, WHATTA' BUILD!!!!!!!!!
I live relatively close to the Delta facility at Lorimor, IA and have been fortunate enough to know and to have raced with Ken and David. I remember one of these cars at the factory and commented at the time that it was a beautiful piece (probably around '98 or so).
I was really glad to find this project - it will serve as a blueprint for my own. I have 2 834 B cars - both assembled and complete (RPS versions) in addition to a original 'space capsule) body that was raced in a (not sure what year) Worlds by a Japanese driver in addition to an original RPS body/wing painted a single color blue.
I believe that I have all of the necessary Delta pieces with the possible exception of the shocks (been a day or 2 since I've been through them). My problem with this project has been that I'm somewhat reluctant to change/part out one of the very good original cars to make one of the Delta Desert cars.... Probably some day though...

Re: 834B Delta Desert Racer aka "Delta Dog"
Doug, I just stumbled across this car. Like others, I am not very found of these cars, but I would gladly display that car, it is absolutely perfect. Everything about this car is awesome and the mini mags wheels really look fantastic. I can now see why Al (a01butal) was looking for a seta while back.
Great work man.

If anyone is interested, the yellow Yokomo parts (steering bell cranks and battery tray) accept black dye without a problem. Hope to get the parts installed soon.
