Craigslist score, box of RC stuff (updated w/pics!)

Post by flipwils11 »

For $50 today (sorry other twin cities members!) I scored this on craigslist. Can't wait to dig into it tonight when I get home and see what I hauled in. The guy brought it to work and told me he had several inquiries about it and just said whoever got there first. Luckily it was about 6 miles from my work so I jumped in the car (no meetings this am) and went down at 9am to grab it.

The spare parts will be nice to have.

Alright, it gets better, check out the 120v outlet plug! But I was very surprised to find out when I got a closer look at home that it's a light anno chassis! :P There's an A stamp on the back, but is this an early Cadillac or is it an Edinger? Also, lol, looks like it has Kyosho shocks on it but it came with 3 of the 4 original shocks (I have spares anyway) and the original A-arms. I think I'll put the original A-arms back on and save these Andy's for another project I have in mind.

Here's a comparison next to the later A stamp runner I have with the more orangy-gold chassis:

It also came with three of these scary batteries. Think I should try charging it and using it!? Yes that's a matching female 120v plug on the battery! Tonight I will have more time to clean it up so I plan to fully disassemble it, clean up the chassis, and then figure out what to do with it. I was going to use it as another runner but now that I see it's the light anno chassis I'm not quite sure.

Nice score, those AC wires are insane

I have that same old Pro Tech charger, it works on NiCads up to about 1800 mah nicely. I never tried it on anything "bigger" than that.

That is awesome. Thanks for sharing the pics with us. I love the plug, that is one of the coolest things I have seen.

Just goes to show there are some very creative people out there. I mean once you melt a tamiya plug, what is there to do if you don't have access to a hobby shop? I now know that cutting a few male and female ends off of household appliances will get me going again. That would have been my last thought.

not only that, you could actually power up to three cars from the same battery at the same time!

provided of course you left enough slack in the wire........

Here are some updates as I've started cleaning this car up. It turns out to be a (partial) early Edinger which was definitely not expected when I got this from craigslist. I was looking more for a later gold pan runner to play with or have as a spare.

I'm not sure what I'll do with this since it's not quite shelf queen material I guess due to scratches on chassis and incomplete parts, but it's not junk either. I might list it on the buy/sell area for trade when I'm done cleaning it up.

It has the C-clip in the 6 gear trans as shown in the 25 years of RC10 faq. Unfortunately the shocks don't have the slotted pistons.

And it's light anno with an A- stamp.

On that tranny pic two above, see if it has the e-clip on the lower gears as well. See if it looks like this image Picture
The early transmissions had this large and small clip on the pivots, then the large clip was replaced for a hex nut behind the large metal outdrives, for the remainder of the tranny's.
Also check the shock pistons to see what you got, early, mid or late Eddy.

That's cool you should try plugging the battery straight into the 110v wall socket to charge it. I think thats how he intended it to be done. Let me know what happens when you get out of the hospital...
Remember it's either a runner or a shelfer. Everything else is just parts.
