Question on Stealth case (and internals I guess)

Has the stealth case itself changed over the years, dimensionally and fitting the internals? I know many run the B4 slipper but since that is plugged into the older Stealth from as far back as a gold pan like the CE with Stealth, I'm guessing nothing changed internally.

inetrc has an aluminum stealth case I have my eye on but it's listed for a B4, so I want to make sure it will apply for the earlier Stealth trans.

associated has called all of their 3 gear trans' a 'stealth' trans, even though they are all different.

so something listed as a B4 is not gonna fit where an original stealth was. Usually they are specifically referred to as '2.25 stealth'

What about between the B3 and B4? Same case/same tranny other than the slipper?

see if I can get this right:

original 2.25 stealth available in:
rc10, rc10t

2.4 ratio stealth available in:
b2, b3, t3

b2 has same slipper as original stealth, b3 and T3 look similar, but are larger.

2.60 ratio available in:
t2-unique to t2, same slipper as original stealth
b4, b4.1, t4, t4.1, sc10?

the original stealth had the idler fixed to it's shaft, and the bearings inserted into the case.
all later stealth transmissions had an idler that had the bearings installed in the gear, and the shaft inserted into the case.

top gears are all the same, idlers I believe have the same number of teeth in all flavors.

diff gear was 45 for 2.25, 48 tooth for 2.40, 52 tooth for 2.6 ratio.

gear diffs are/were used in the sc10 as opposed to ball diffs.

Thanks for the post with the long explanation, that helps a lot. So back to your earlier post with the section above in bold, I take it the cases are not interchangeable either, i.e. the holes for a B4 stealth won't line up with the holes in a C-stamp chassis? I think that might be my last question here before I give up on this.

if you are willing to modify the pan, you can fit a B4 stealth on the chassis. Someone here has already done it....maybe Toasted Coastie? I can't recall exactly.

the hole pattern is different, but the main issue is that the lower ratio transmissions pushed the gear so far down in the case that the chassis needs a square cutout to mount the transmission, ie, the transmission sticks down below flush in the middle where the larger diff gear is.

yes jwscab it was toasted coastie he did it on project x and he made it look pretty good too it is an option he even said he had a template of what to cut and where to drill the holes u could try pming him

I happen to have a few Stealths laying around. I was doing some clean up work on my Kranzel terminator and was looking at a T4 trans I had. I noticed the difference of the cases too. I also have an old Cobra with a stealth in it too. I'm gonna try to search and see if someone has a thread listing the differences like they did with the actual RC10 models. Would be a nice addition.

A question about the motor plates for the 3 gear trans., are they interchangeable? or do they follow the same grouping as listed above.

Same grouping for the motor plates, usually the gold plates are 6 gear, the black are 2.25 and 10T stealth trans, then the flat plates are for the newer stealths. I tried a gold plate on a stealth and it 'can' be made to work, but a drill bit and a tap 4-40 tap are needed.

they follow the same grouping as above. he was just pointing out that other than one mounting point, the motor plate from a 6 gear and a 2.25 stealth are the same. b2/b3/t3 are the same. t2 is all by itself.

now, can you put say....... a b2 plate on a 2.25 trans with some creativity? yes, but not without modifications to the motor plate and/or chassis.
