I am excited as it will be a lot of fun. When I was 6 I got a hand me down yamaha 80 from my brother. So at the same time I was learning to ride a bicycle, I was learning to ride a motorcycle. I moved from that 80 to a Honda 75 then to a Yamaha 125. After high school, I bought a Yamaha tri-z 250 three wheeler and Yamaha YZ 465 dirt bike. I eventually got rid of the three wheeler but I kept the 465 until about 3 years ago when I gave it to my friend. It needed a lot of work and I knew when and if I got back into riding, I would want a newer bike. This CR250 I bought has no where near the power my old 465 had but it will do for now as I will be just cruzing around with my son.

i understand they were/are dangerous, but i liked them all the same. i learned on a honda big red, then rode a 350x.
maybe its just cause i dont have alot of experience on a 4 wheeler and alot on a trike, but to me those 4wheelers are more dangerous... you cant really feel when the rig is gonna tip over, at least on a 3 wheeler you had a much better feel of what was going on. again, to me at least it feels that way...
anyhoo, nice bikes jim.

The dirt bike riding has really been cutting into my RC time but I don't mind. My bike was looking a bit neglected so I decided to do a little freshy on on it. I bought some new fender and a rear tire. I got the raditor shrouds coming in the mail. I plan to make some kind of graphics for the tank and shrouds. Oem sticker kits are so expensive. Anyway, here are some pics

I grew up on a hundred acre ranch and I started on a Honda XR75. My dad bought it new and we rode that thing into the ground, literally! It was the most fun bike we ever had. The other two bikes were a Yamaha 125 road bike that had been converted to dirt (read: heavy, gutless, but super cushy ride ) then to a YZ125 that had been a race bike, that thing was like riding a wild bull! LOL Too much power and too noisy to be any fun. We lived in a canyon, so 99% of our property was fairly steep hillside, which made it even worse for the two Yamaha's.shodog wrote: I moved from that 80 to a Honda 75 then to a Yamaha 125. Always loved riding, it was a great way to relax. I'd love to have another now, but the roadways are too insane for street bikes and I don't like having to haul my bike somewhere to be able to ride it, so until I've got some property again ...

Sounds like you had fun growing up. I grew up mostly riding on farm roads. as a teenager we moved to the outskirts of town which had 2.5 acre. I was able to make track in the back pasture. I bet my neighbors despised me ripping around on my YZ465.Halgar wrote: I'd love to have another now, but the roadways are too insane for street bikes and I don't like having to haul my bike somewhere to be able to ride it, so until I've got some property again ...![]()
Recently when I was buying my wifes bike at the dealership, we were looking at a row of CBR 1000's. My wife said, how come you don't buy one of those? I told her don't tease me. I would love to have a bitchin road bike but riding here in the bay area with all the idiot driver yaking on their cell phones, I say forget it.

Yep, all kinds of fun! We were in PoDunk, so the county gravel roads were fair game, in addition to our property. With the exception of the YZ, our bikes were fairly quiet, so we didn't bother the neighbors too much with our riding.shodog wrote:Sounds like you had fun growing up. Cowtown isn't any better, in fact we've got those damnedable razor bikes and gas powered scooters everywhere, ridden by people who not only shouldn't be on them, they don't know, understand or obey the rules of the road. We even get go-carts racing up and down the street.shodog wrote: I would love to have a bitchin road bike but riding here in the bay area with all the idiot driver yaking on their cell phones, I say forget it.
