The thing with the Viper body is that it's long enough for the long wheelbase of the Pro XL.
On another note, it's amazing how well the XL drives too. I've found my car to be very well balanced on the race track with my 5000 lipo running up the chassis length. I'm also sporting a Triumph transmission with is smoo-oothhh.

Jasons XL looks great for sure. But like Luke said, then it looks like just another RC10 out on the track.

This is the way mine came out with the lowly Outrage body. :)

I ordered up an Optima Pro body from TBG tonight. Will post up again when I have it trimmed out!

Now, BORMAC... did you get creative and extend the lower line for the front windshield of your viper? It sure looks like it, and it makes a HUGE difference in the appearance of that body. I'm also trying to decide what to put on my RC10, and I think I'm going to go Viper, solely based on the cost. A LOT of them that I've seen I hated, but I thought extending the window areas would help out. I do like yours, and RichieRich's, and AEIOU's latest one here: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=20528 . I guess it's a shell you just have to get the right scheme on. Whereas a Turbo Mirage looks good anyway you slice it. :D

Sorry to take the thread on a tangent. We now will return to our regularly scheduled Ultima Body Talk.

Yes I made the front window taller by masking it differently. I prefer it this way also as it kinda changed the look of what I think might be one of the least appealing sculpts I have seen from AE. I know there are 'died in the wool' fans out there that won't appreciate my comment but at the very least I'm happy with the way this body turned out.

The XL has such a long wheelbase that the original shell looks odd in this car.

Nice to see I'm not alone in not caring for the Viper. I also agree with you about the Ultima body. Too short. Richie notes that it also doesn't extend down to the chassis far enough, leaving you open for dirt (if you run on un-groomed tracks. ) And I KNOW about your down under tracks Jason!, some of my favorite photos are from your Aussie vintage meet threads on RCTech!

I think that my choice will be true to the original....only better.....I Hope!

I just have to decide on wheels now. Either HPI ultra 7's kind of like originals (but 2.2). HPI Ultra 5's (Losi-like in appearance) or HPI super stars, like mikedealer did (only no chrome for me!) What do you think?

Yeah, I never liked the way the standard Ultima body fit on the Pro XL. I wish Kyosho had created another body like they did for every dang version of the Optima during the same period.

Well, last night I bit the bullet and ordered a Outrage body http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250788045682&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
like RichieRich has on his Ultima Pro. $19.95 for a body is more reasonable than $40.00 plus that I have seen for other Ultima Pro bodies !! Plus I sure like the look of it !!

Thanks for all the help !!!
Craig
