Post by Qtschmidt »

I bought a kyosho rocky half of the parts are in the box so I was looking around and saw a few turbo rockys it looked like the chassi and front shocks are not the same so what I want to know is can I buy a turbo rocky chassi and front shock tower and what ever else to make it a turbo rocky? Are the gear boxes the same?

Yes, a standard Rocky can be converted to a Turbo, or a Turbo-esque version. The gear boxes are the same. The basic differences between the Rocky and Turbo Rocky are the chassis (the Turbo has top and bottom Al plates plus posts), front and rear shock towers, front and rear shocks (Turbos have Kyosho Platinums, although Kyosho Golds will work too), front hub carriers, chain guides (iirc). If you want to totally replicate a Turbo, you need also the gold universals, front bumper and sway bar set. The wheelbase on a Turbo is shorter, so the Rocky body doesn't fit well; you pretty much need the Turbo body (2 repro sellers have them, so that part is easy).

I think that's everything...

Here's a scanned review of the Turbo I posted a couple of years ago: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8466
