Tamiya craigslist jackpot?

Post by Momo5 »

I can't really say that I'm into most Tamiyas, but I was browsing craigslist yesterday and saw this for what I consider a pretty dirt cheap price. I usually dont buy RCs just to resell them, but I knew if I resold it, it would fund many other RC projects that I have. Its a Tamiya Brusier in pretty good shape. The guy I got it from said he bought it from another guy 5 years ago, then he got locked up for several years and he hasnt touched it since. Its a little dirty from sitting and I thought about cleaning it up, but honestly it looks a bit intimidating to me. Heres some pics..

I have the headlights for it, they are just not on the body right now.

It also came with alot of paperwork in mint condition, including instuction booklet for the truck and radio, unused decal sheet (a couple of the decals have been cut out but are unused and sealed), a couple of old Tamiya magazines as well...

I've got a couple of questions. Is this this original motor? There are no markings on it that I can see..

And this Bruiser also has a light kit installed in the sidesteps, although only the passenger side works. The toggle switch for the drivers side needs to be replaced. Did this light kit comes with it, or was it an option?

Thanks guys!

Options! Wow, nice Brusier!!! Don't know what you got it for, but they hold their values- always wanted one just too pricey- very very cool!!

Nice score indeed. I'm not the biggest vintage Tamiya guy either, but if I found that for a good deal, I'd have totally scooped it up, too!

The original motor is a Mabuchi RS-720 motor which that one does appear to be. Nice find. How much? You can't claim jackpot without telling us the price!

What someone paid, and what it might be worth should always be something different!!

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to list it on a few RC sites and see if I can get a buyer. She is a sweet lookin truck, but I have a RC10, 2 losi buggys, and an 8th scale electric conversion I need to finish up.

Well that didnt take long. I listed the truck, controller and instruction manual on ebay and it sold using by it now for $600 in 3 hours.

I guess I can now safely say that I paid $100 for everything I got...so not too bad of a profit. Its all going back to RC to finish up some projects.

Oh, the decal sheet is still on ebay for $130.

Decal sheet is now sold too. Well some a little of that money will go to Charlie don't surf if he ever finds the parts I need!  I'm kidding. I'm just glad hes trying to hunt down the parts I need. I'll be spending some on a few ESCs, batteries and a few other parts for my old losi buggys and RPM RC10.
