losi xxcr KE re-build

Post by Brent J »

Hi,

Ive been a losi supporter ever since my first (xx). I currently run a 22 and a xxx4G+, both being brilliant cars!

Over the past year i have started to collect a few of the older models and im currently trying to re-build my xxcr ke (please correct me if its not a KE!). I have a JRX2 which is next up :)

I purchased the car off Ebay and it is in fair condition missing some parts however. (pics attached). I was hoping that some people in this forum may be able to help me out?

The parts that i would like to source are:

Wing wire
Wing buttons
Appropriate body shell - repro is ok
era correct esc
era correct motor
correct wheels & tyres
Front Bulkhead...(i would like to find a black one)

If anyone has spares they would like to sell, i would love to hear from you!

Yes those tyres are certainly well used by the previous owner!

i actually have two old gold pan RC10's, one is a CE with a stealth tranny that i want to restore, however i have the xxcrke and a great old JRX2 to come first!

Apologies if i misused the forum. I will be sure to post my b/s/t items in the correct forum / thread.

Looks like an excellent base for a rebuild, I'll be watching with interest! Love the KE cars.

As for parts, buttons are available here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400185937941&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1460wt_922

You'll be lucky to find a black bulkhead, but the white ones are readily available and you can dye them.

Edit: One here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LOSI-WHITE-FRONT-BULKHEAD-XX-XXT-LOSA1101-NIB-/290581297557?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a7feb995

I might know where there is a wing wire, let me check if the guy still has some.

Edit: Here's the link to where I got my wing wire, the guy had 18 of them, so you should be able to get one! http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54649

You might also want to consider a graphite battery strap - that one looks like the standard plastic and not an OE kit item.

Enjoy your build!

Hi Jamin,

Wow - those links were greatly appreciated!

I snapped up those Tinity wing buttons and have sent an email off enquiring about the wing wire!

I have stripped the xxcrke and started cleaning all the graphite items and cleaning up the steel / alloy items...

Im not sure whay i will do with the motor plate. I like the signature Kinwald blue anodising, however there are a few shallow gouges, so im half inclined to stripping the blue and polishing back to either a polished or matt aluminium look...but undecided on that one!

I picked up some "Foam Things" and a used clear lexan gear cover off ebay which i hope will clean up nicely.

I will post some pics of the car stipped asap!

Brent

I assume you are stateside, if you have trouble getting the wire LMK and I'll get one from him and send it over.

If I were you I'd keep the blue plate, it's the one thing that really shouts 'KINWALD', just my opinion, looking forward to seeing your progress.

Defenatly keep the blue anodized stuff, if you dont want the motor plate LMK we could trade for a shiny one

The only issue with the blue anodising on the motor plate is the condition of the bottom face... Not sure if I will get a colour match.. I don't really want to leave it the way it is!

On another not - are there any clever guys making repro decals for xxcrke?

Cheers, brent

Yet another question!

Are there any good contacts that make quality Repro stickers? I'm looking for Losi xxcr Kinwald Edition stickers!

Cheers!

I don't know of any, but I think bearrickster has a spare original sheet that he may part with, but be warned, he paid a premium for them so expect to pay top dollar...

Slow moving to date but I have secured some new Trinity wing buttons, wing wire, and a used Novak Cyclone ESC that I am hoping will clean up to an as new condition!

I will post pics as they arrive!

I have an as new motor in a box of goodies I have been collecting over the years.. From memory it is a Dirtinator 13x2... Ill dig it out tonight!

Next on the hunt is a set of New Fr and Rr wheels with lexan covers that I have my eye on! I will also look for some tyres and a new lexan shell and wing!

Few small parts i have begun to gather......

Some Losi Foam Things and i will probably put the 10x3 D3 in there with the Novak cyclone i just recently purchased.

I have a very old Jr's Choice - shame its not in better condition. i will be putting it in my JRX2 which is my next build!
