Hey all, heres a Blizzard project that started out for the snow, and now totally meant for the sand. I added a Royal Crusher roll bar and lights, and a Hyperdrive belt drive setup. I narrowed the tracks down to about 2" wide to give the wheels more presence. It has an old school Tekin 610 with reverse, and powered by a custom built & labeled 12t Kyosho Lemans 480EV.
Maybe instead of "Beach Blizzard", a more suitable name would be the "Sandstorm". I'd love to get my hands on a Blizzard someday, if I could ever find one 4 cheep.

OH SNAP!!!! I like that
I had to go levels deep, like Inception, to pull off buying this new built, techincally for free. good ol' local Craigslist helps alot; buy low and upsell until your target is reached
very cool - good choice on the EP version rather than the newer df300... those silver rims look good
What's that belt conversion you used, again? Never seen a belt-driven blizz...
You'll love it. the trick for blizzes is to fill the diff with as thick an oil you can find (1'000'000 does the trick) and to very carefully adjust brake endpoints, a radio with expo helps a lot
Looking forward to the finished product

yea im not a fan of stick radios, so the EV's brake-steer concept is perfect for my FlySky pistol. i did read about the diff thing, but I also found a video tutorial on using a stronger Traxxas Revo diff in place of it; always an option...
the belt drive is the vintage Hyperdrive setup. fortunately, i had a pre-drilled spur that fit the adapter perfect. its very quite being belt driven, better for listening to tunes more clearly
this is where i got the idea for a chopped Lunchbox body. I would do the same thing, but also chop it from the bottom, right up past the front fender, while leaving the hinged front grill section to hang over the front of the Blizzard. that way i can get the cab to swing out further, possibly via servo.
chopped bedford on blizz was called Heavy Metal 30yrs ago

Nice! I love my Blizzard and can't wait to get it back out into some snow. I like the mods you did. I had been wondering how well a belt drive would work in a Blizzard. Is that a reverse-rotation motor?
thanks, that motor is just for testing. im building a 12t with custom Lemans decals, wiring and timing it for reverse rotation. i just drove it today to tweak the brake steer and Tekin 610. it was fun but needs the modified motor badly
I finally took a pic of the Stealth that grenaded in my brushless RC10 runner. I ran this tranny for months with NiMh packs and a 13T brushed motor, then a 27T motor with zero problems. After I rebuilt it with a new RPM 2.65 conversion, diff rings,...

Hey Jer, found a NIP steel idler today....LMK....JohnnySr
I finally got one! Have wanted one for years, but just couldn't ever bring myself to pull the trigger. This Christmas though my lady surprised me with the wifi version :D
I have only gotten a few minutes of drive time so far, but I am impressed...

Nice. Blizzards are great fun in the snow. Curious how well the Wifi control works. Is it easy to control? Does it have a pretty clear picture?
Controls are very simple. Pretty much identical to using a 2 stick radio. The camera has a nice clear...
