rc10 runner with issues

Post by rctenracer »

The problem I am having is with the rpm ball cups binding up at the shock tower and bellcrank. I installed stock AE ball cups and no binding. This biuld was based on a 'whats old is new" and I see rpm cups used . What am I doing wrong? If I redrill the shock tower for clerance for the rpm cups won't that throw the steering and bump steer off? Just waiting for chassis film and esc and its done.

Use the camber mounts above the ones you are using on that tower, your bellcranks look like the inner nut/bearing retainer is sitting with the nut side down, which raises the inner ball stud higher as well, try flipping that so the plastic nut is on the top side of the bellcranks- and try the AE low pro ball studs-

I use the AE ball cups on the inside too, for the same reason. RPM or Jconcepts will not clear. Maybe someone else can post a work around. I don;t mind using the AE cups, however.

i have found the jconcepts cups to be smaller then the rpm's, closer to b4 cups.

that said i have no rubbing with rpm, it's very close though. i'm also running a houge bellcrank.

ditto on that.

using it like that on a graphite chassis there's no problem. but on a tub chassis, the bellcrank is automatically going to sit 1/16" or so higher because of the noseplate. you have to do whatever you can to lower the bellcranks as much as possible. not to mention, the lower you get the bellcrank, the less washers/spacers you'll need at the knuckle to eliminate bump steer.

another think you could do (if you don't care about altering the bellcranks) would be to machine the height of the centerlink ballstuds down to the thickness of the steering ballstud.

Thanks for the reply . Flipped the bearing retainer and that solved the problem. Da why didn't I see that.

If you never did it incorrectly, you wouldn't know it was wrong
