Found this beast in a lot of RC cars I purchased. Have not got a chance to start working on it yet, but couldn't wait to show it off any longer. If anyone has info on this please add it.
Just read that a BEC kit was sold and can be ascertained by the shock colors. From the pic can anyone tell if this is the regular kit or the BEC version?

i might very well be wrong...can't remember where i saw that at...the BEC.
Thanks I am in absolute RC heaven at this point. Just started stripping paint from this one. It is painted inside and out! Just need to collect a few more... Big Brute, Striker and of course the old grasshopper.

Re: Kyosho Optima Mid
BEC stand for Battery Eliminator Circuit. It is s simple voltage droping resistor circuit that was available for (and with) many of the Kyosho buggies. I could be wrong, but I don't remember andy specific "BEC Edition" buggies, and I would doubt that Kyosho would change the versions of the shocks specifically to denote this. Take a look at the Kyosho timeline and see if there is anything there. Nice score btw. -Jeff

Re: Kyosho Optima Mid
My only thought would be the Optima Mid and the Optima Mid SE. I have and SE that car looks like it could be an SE. I don't know a lot about the differences but the SE has silver (not shinny) wheels and from those pictures those wheels look correct style but I can't tell the finish on them.

Re: Kyosho Optima Mid
This is (by looking at the decals and shocks) a standard optima mid.
If the motor is original, it´ll be a Lemans 240 and the chassis will take stickpacks.
Congratulations on the nice find.

If Your chassis has counter sunk screws, silver wheels and platinum dampers, my guess would be a Turbo Optima mid SE.bxlt wrote:My only thought would be the Optima Mid and the Optima Mid SE. Re: Kyosho Optima Mid
No countersunk screws. The wheels are white and it takes stick packs. The only thing I can see on the motor is a purple or brown arrow going counter-clockwise with the text "Racing." Dying to tear into all of these but am trying yo stick to one at a time so I dont make a mess of them.DennisM wrote:This is (by looking at the decals and shocks) a standard optima mid.
