Front hpi star wheels for ultima
Hello, does anyone know if they still make those hpi star front wheels that fit on the ultima's?

Unfortunately, they do not.
There's a way to use the 2.2 HPI rear wheels, but you have to narrow the wheels and use a front hub/axle similar to the slash (where the bearing is in the hub vs. the wheel). Another option would be to use the wheels from a duratrax maximum...but the hub conversion still needs to be done.

Re: Front hpi star wheels for ultima
I used the RB5 carriers spindles and axles to put 12mm on my Ultima Pro. The bonus is, if you use the rear HPI super stars rears you don't need the wider Andy's front arms to get your car out to legal width. Stock arms, RB5 carrier/spindle/axle, HPI rears...DONE.

When are you gonna sell me those gold C-carriers? They'd look so much better on my Gold Optima.Mr. ED wrote:and if you're using stock width front arms you can go hex by using the optima c-carirer axle-carrier and axle

(It's a beautiful Hotshot, just kidding.)

What about the Optima? Can you use HPI Star back wheels on the back and front of the Optima? Thanks for the reply.
If yes, do they fit on a stock set-up?

Re: Front hpi star wheels for ultima
Yes and yes. You can get the HPI 5-Stars with 12mm hex, no adapters needed, and they bolt right onto the Optima's hex hubs. I even think you can stretch Turbo Optima-sized tires onto the HPI 5-Stars. The HPI wheels are 2.2" and T.O. tires are 2", but I'm pretty sure I tried some on and they fit. Here they are mounted on a narrowed Optima front end, but the hub/carrier/steering knuckle setup is the same as original:rangerg wrote:What about the Optima? Re: Front hpi star wheels for ultima
I have one set of white HPI star wheels that I got before they were discontinued. You just can't find them anywhere (it's the 2.2" ones, I think #3030). They still make them in black, but that's it. These were such a good way to buy modern wheels and use modern tires and the wheels still had that vintage look. Is there anything similar out there now that these are no longer made?

I have a set in black in the BST area I bought extras to make shipping overseas worthwhile
One really cool thing with JC is you can ask for different combinations of wheels as well, such as two sets of rear instead of narrow fronts
