Just saw all of Lars vids of last years race, the track looked awesome for the type of event...and holy cow, did Brandon wheel the snot out of that Clod!! Either way I'm sure the race will be good, but the outdoor setting looked really greatstickboy007 wrote:Interesting...
I'm curious why we're going back indoors for VONATS this year. I thought the outdoor events at Bethel were a pretty good setting.

They do but it's a 1/8 scale track.Brandon G wrote:I thought Wolcott had an outdoor track also?
Wollcott's indoor facility is very nice.

Period correct mods are fine, modern wheels and rubber are fine. 17.5 brushless or 27 turn brushed is fine.TRX-1-3 wrote:Howdy,
I really want to hit the VONATs.... What's the deal with hop-ups? How far from bone stock can a 1991 2wd buggy go before it's not cool? Need a date so I can lock it up. Just buy the ticket and commit..........
Super Interested in Oregon,
Mark
Lipo's are fine.
You can't use a modern gearbox.
You can't put an old school body on a modern car.
The most important thing is to race in the spirit of vintage racing, and have fun.

Re: 2013 TEKIN VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS • SEPT 13-15TH
I had heard rumors that Lester (Wolcott owner) was planning on an outdoor 1/10th scale track. That was a while ago, though, and I don't know if there is any truth to it. I've raced at their indoor facility a few times last year, and it is pretty good. They've updated the dirt since last year so that it supposedly has much more traction now. Just need to watch out for the cinder blocks that line some of the jumps. Bad aim equals broken vintage.
Would be good to know for sure soon if we are indoors or outdoors this year. Most of my Yokomo rims have brand new outdoor tires glued to them in anticipation of returning to Bethel this year. Oops. If we will **definitely** be indoors this year, then I'll need to order some more JC Racing wheels soon.

I expect Erich to make an announcement soon.
Thanks. Great news as I don't think it conflicts with anything in my schedule. It's taken me a bit longer (ehem...over a year) to get my car set but I think its ready to go and I'm looking forward to it.

Great news! Eliminates weather as a factor especially for those traveling a long distance.

But putting a new car on an old slipper might not pass.

Wow, very cool indeed. I'm sure they love the fact that the re-re classic and Worlds cars are sure to be well represented there.

Hey man,
Anybody else think (I'm gonna go old school and spell it out....) "re-released" kits should be a no-go? Might be the wrong thread to bring this up? I might just be salty that my favorite isn't getting brought back with massive aftermarket support though. Yeah, that's it. But still....

Hope you're doin' something fun.

Nope. They should be allowed. They are helping drive interest to the event and deserve to be included. Plus they aren't breaking any rules. They are the same as they were back in the day.

Might have to try and make it this year. If only as a spectator.
