Re: CAD & CAM files
If I'm modeling things that already exist like rc parts, I carefully measure them with a dial caliper. Even then I print the drawing of the part up in actual size and compare it to the original and then adjust if I'm off. That arm mount took about 2 hours to do. The chassis took a little less. I take my time. I'm sure I could do it faster if I have to but I'm not getting paid to do it so I'll take as long as I want. Since I am getting a 3D printer very soon I'm trying to make sure everything is accurate so I can make them if I ever need them. I'm slowly modeling parts up and at some point I'll have a nice library of RC10 and JRX based models. It clearly takes time. I'm actually not one to share my actual model files though other than showing drawings. It's a bit selfish I guess but I never shared my toys as a kid either!

Re: CAD & CAM files
Nice work guys!
I've been a cad monkey for 23+ years (freshman in HS), and still learning new tricks. In my current role I don’t get to model stuff up as much as I use to, mostly I get buried working on the non-creative side of engineering. I've been wanting to reverse engineer and design some more rc stuff but I just haven’t had extra time.
Here are a couple small side projects I did a while ago…

Re: CAD & CAM files
Very nice! I haven't gotten too far into rendering since most of my experience comes from engineering which is primarily model the part and create a drawing for manufacturing. I'd like to get more into the rendering and animation areas at some point. I don't have FEA capability on my home version of Inventor. It has only been something I've used at work on work related projects in Pro-E or Inventor.

Hey Steve! First I must say, your work is fantastic! What I need to know is, how well does the 1/24 slotcar run with the side pods (weights?) ? Reminds me a little of the old AFX Super II!

Re: CAD & CAM files
Sounds Awesome. Would you mine sharing the Cad files. I'm gonna be working on Rc12e and Rc12i restoration and there is a lot of parts I am missing for it. It be nice if i could print out the parts I'm missing because i have access to a 3d printer.Mach10_shooter wrote:I have an Associated RC12E and RC12i drawn in solid model that I did years ago. If anyone would like to see them I'll try to get them posted.

I posted this elsewhere but it's probably more appropriate here. '91 Stealth Car front arm.
