Um, slightly better than the Avante? They can fare ok on a slightly undulating hard packed clay track. It isn't a Yokomo or a XX4.
I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.
Re: Egress re-release !
there were some really fast/competitive avante's at the vonats this year. they suprised me.

So well that the UK Team drivers used prototype Manta Ray suspension on them until it was replaced a year later by this http://www.tamiyaclub.com/article.asp?id=64RC104ever wrote:How do these actually drive? They look pretty nice.
After saying that, they do go a lot better than Avantes.

Re: Egress re-release !
Nineteen page thread over on Tamiyaclub.
basic info..
re-release kit
box-art same as original
changes over original..
Revised design chassis plates - top plate has oval cut outs vs round on original, plus a few extra small screw holes (for driver figure or cable ties ???)
Vajra design ball diffs, outdrives and CVDs (improved design)
Avante 2001 rear trailing arm retaining brackets
Revised shock towers (thicker materials, taller/wider front)
front metal cross brace reversed
Re-re hi-cap dampers
Revised front shock lower mounting points (no BF8/BF9 brackets)
Gold strengthened front uprights
Revised steering linkage
No titanium screws
Revised decal font
Boxart appears to be as original, although suspect there will be no blister packaging inside.

Tamiya's MSRP is always out out of control.

Re: Egress re-release !
Tower always inflates the preorder price on the Tamiya re-re's. After they come in stock it will drop.

Re: Egress re-release !
Honestly, I wish you would write a book on racing Tamiya vehicles. Your post are very informative. It gives a good look into what racing with a Tamiya was really like back in the day minus all the rosy tint of nostalgia.
